I always thought that was a stable condition - fixed as best they could after birth and then that's what you lived with the rest of your life. Not always so, this little 8 year old is having multiple problems. The worst one is a growing bulge of spinal fluid at the base of her spine. It's very rare and they decided to try a shunt at Mayo to drain excess fluid. If that's doesn't work, they have few other options. So friends and family hosted this benefit for her. They really did a lot of work for it, they auctioned for 3 hours and 15 mins! All donated items, lots were quite pricey. We got a 5 ft windmill, a birdfeeder, a set of Snowman dishes and two different gift certificates. I just love the windmill! DH says it's too pretty to put outside, we should keep it in the livingroom - no dear, it's going outside. lol I worked Sat, then went to DD and sewed up the arm on her chair. She thinks she can't do it, but she knows mom will do it better and faster, ha ha. DD and DGD sang in their church this am, so I went to their church, left half way thru and picked up Aunt Jo, MIL and made it to their church 5 mins late. Not too bad! DH and I had lunch there and then made arrangements with a 2nd cousin to bring them home. We didn't feel like staying for second service. DH tore out the laundry room on Tues. and still does not have the washer replumbed. I have NO clean clothes. I wore dress clothes to work Thurs and Fri and probably will again tmr. I suppose I could load everything up and run to Sioux Falls to a laundromat but that does not enthuse me at all. It will be great when it's done, the dryer and washer are going from the east wall to the west wall because the dryer was vented thru the garage and then outside and the hose was very long, over 12 ft. We had problems with moisture in the garage, the dryer overheating and water in the hose in the winters. A royal pain! Now it is just a 2 ft hose, right out the wall to the back yard. That is all done, and the new water pipes are in upstairs, but not yet in the basement. He also has a washer tray installed with a drain to the basement sink so we should never have a laundry room flood again. The cupboards beside the W/D and above it are all installed too. The other side is getting a 30" pantry cupboard, then 36" sink base cupboard, 30" bottom drawers and another 30" bottom drawers. Above the sink base will be a rod for hanging wet clothes, then two 30" shelf cupboards above the base drawers. An 8" countertop will finish it off. YIPPEE! I'll be in laundry heaven when it's done! lol So, who has grown daturas? Do I need to use a cotton swab to pollinate them? I'd like some seed and so far, nature isn't working. :) .....here's a pic of my new windmill.... |
