Ada, granted we are in different climates, but my experience with these are they are pretty rugged - not so much in cold tolerance, but drought tolerance and mistreatment. I've got one that's been in a small pot for about three or 4 years now. It's never flowered (none of my bauhinias have ever flowered in a pot), but it's still alive and well after being severely neglected by me. (I know, "Bad Daddy!")

Vossner, Ficus is another of the genera I collect. I love the different varieties. Here's another... F. aspera 'parcellii', aka, Clown Fig. Supposedly, the variegation will get much more dramatic (to being the majority color of white with green spots and flecks) as it matures.
