I personally would cut it back myself but it is up to you. I prefer a canopy that is circular out from the main trunk all the way around. But it not like a rose where you will get mildew or worse by having it crossing over on itself. Like Veronica said, I bet it will leaf out and look OK.

You have plenty of time to get a good canopy in your zone. Usually I try to preserve more nodes, but feritilize it regularly and it will grow fast and even be denser for you.

Brugs go to the sun rapidly. If one of my seedlings falls over, by the end of the day it is ruined, the trunk is already bent too much.
