When I set my pond up a few months ago (this is not my first) I figured on covering 50% of the water surface and providing some dappled shade for part of the day. I bought 1 water lily with lots of leaves, a few aquarium plants for oxegenating, some water lettuce for floaters and was given several other plants. Talk about overkill, this isn't my first pond and yet I still learn new stuff. I had to start thinning the leaves on the lily, thin out the lettuce, and yesterday I shared some of the 2 kinds of aquatic Sensitive plant to clear the surface a bit. My lily wasn't getting enough sun to complete its blooms. My point is, I don't have any algae in this pond because I kept the water surface choked with plants. I just looked at this picture........I need to get another pond for all those plants!!!! Molly :^))) |
