Hello from Canada,

I bought a pkt of Brugmansia seed not knowing anything about it. I got two plants which are doing VERY well, both outdoors. Now I'm trying to figure out just what I've got myself into... They are both in tubs; the one in the photo (at home) faces south and gets full sun from about 7:30 am to around 3:00 in the afternoon. The other is at the cottage and faces SW. I transplanted them from the germinating/growing pots (in my kitchen) into their tubs at the end of May, when they were about 6-8" high. Our temperatures are ranging from a low of 16C at night to a high of 31C at mid-day, but mostly 20C nights and 25C days. (20C=61F; 25C=78F).

I'm not sure how big this plant will get, or when it will bloom. I pinched it back about three weeks ago and have twin leaders and four side-shoots. It likes it here, despite the unexpected crowding from the cannas.

Will this baby produce seeds for next year? Should I bring it inside at some point... before or after frost?

I certainly got the attention of the neighbours with this planting!

Enjoying my new adventures on DG. Sorry the photo is sideways.
