I just had leaves that stood not far off the surface last year in its first season in the pond. There are two buds so far and since it hasn't bloomed before I don't know how long it will take the bud to develop fully. The leaves this year are much larger, the largest leaf is probably 18" in diameter and stands 18" off the surface of the water.

The Victorias are just magnificant, but just a few pads would take up my whole pond. :-)
