But a friend in Amarillo left her same crops (I grew them from the same litter LOL) outside all night. They have more windprotection there, and a slightly different microclimate. She even has snady soil!!! No, tomatoes are still in, but I WISH I had put out a couple with water teepees. They would be covered in a warm blanket of snow with a nice pocket of air around them, and it would be a neat experiemnt. But, alas, I delayed in ordering my ultra early varities, so they are just getting their first true leaves and are still in jiffy pellets in the DR under the palnt lites (spoiled rotten!) It looks like 4 inches to me, still coming down. My kids want to go out and play, but it is still too cold, just about freezing. The weather men say Fritch has seven inches, but I don't see it. And Amarillo has ten inches already, and may recieve 10 more in som elocations, for a total of 20 inches in AMarillo in ONE DAY. I remember in 1983 (lived in AMarillo), we had a similar storm, a little later, maybe April. More than two feet of snow, drifts to 6 foot. Our fridge broke, and Sears couldn't get out to fix it (no one could), so we kept our milk on the deck in a snow drift. I was young, and a friend/neighbor and I dug tunnels through the snow to each others houses! Here is a better pic from upstairs...sorry it is not the best, I need new batteries, but WONT be going to the store, not even for milk LOL |
