Judy, back in the 1980' s when I became interested in Datura, there was no prevailing theory about Datura taxonomy and nomenclature. Different botanical gardens acknowledged different theories in the literature and that caused a lot of confusion of species names, which still exist today. I can not say, that my writings influenced the situation, though, it have inspired a few, that was in a position to alter things to the better. Here is a link :)

Sherry, I made another cross, that have the same bluish hue. It was probably not prettier, but had a much bigger flower. As the previous hybrid, it doesn' t exist today. I named it 'Heavenly Blue' It was D. meteloides x D. wrightii ... which to many botanists today unfortunately are considered one and the same species ... :(

... lol Every time that I think, that the manuscript is done and there is nothing more to ad the reality play tricks on me. A book will alsoways be a lackfull reflexion of the reality. There is already two new discoveries to ad to a future edition. A forma of D. stramonium is called 'inermis' and have a fruit without or with short, deformed spines. It is currently thought, that such forms only exist for D. stramonium, but I found them in D. metel, meteloides, wrightii and D. inoxia as well. Also a stramonium form called 'labilis' is thought only to exist in the white flowered form, but I grew a lavender flowered 'labilis' form last year. Labilis is described as having both smooth and spiny fruits all on the same plant.
