farizona wrote: Gordon, I was in Nicaragua for 2 weeks, for the purpose of visiting my niece and her family. They are in a remote area so we did not travel around a lot. One day we traveled over the border into Honduras, the crossing process is lengthy, I could not have done it myself since I do not speak Spanish (my nephew is native Nicaraguan and he handled the papers for all of us.) About brugs I saw only this one close up but believe I saw 2 others, same color, at a distance as we drove on a mountain road, and they were near homes. Advice? Drink bottled water. We did and had no health problems. My sister-in-law got some kind of bites from walking in the wooded areas --worse than chiggers. Hope you can speak Spanish! The Volcano Park is worth seeing, you can get close. "Parque Nacional Volcan Masaya" is south of Managua. A sweater or light jacket was adequate for me. Cool evenings. Got a passport? It is required, but not a visa. We were on the western side of the country. It is a "third world country". Oh yes, their money is the Cordoba. 16 Cordobas = $1.00. Sorry I can't help more on the tourism aspect. farizona will send a short email..OK? |
