Insect and Spider Identification: CLOSED: 6 legged insect with red body with white spots and black leg, 0 by spertuit

Before I get too close and personal with this little guy I thought it would be nice to find out what it is, or mainly what it can do. (Just in case I make it upset)
Any help on identifying it would help, I've looked but no luck on this one. It is very small, maybe a half inch in size.
