I have lots of Crape Myrtles but never noticed they brought bees. I can do without the bees here! I have noticed that in my brug garden where I have not pollinated anything, I have tons of volunteer pods. The center of it is full of suaveolons. I wonder if they are the bee magnet. I was supposed to go in and dig them out this weekend, but I didn't get to it. In the past, I never have gotten even 1 volunteer pod. Brugie, Crape Myrtles grow like weeds. I have a huge one in my front bed that is almost taking it over. I cut it way back every year, but it shoots up again even bigger. My DH hates it, he says it is so out of proportion. I just got a lecture about it again this afternoon. It gets just covered in blooms so I have a hard time saying take it out. As soon as it finishes, I take it down by more than half. I planted the wrong size for the place. They come in all sizes, so I was negligent in not researching the variety better. |
