Many became dieased and had to be removed (green ash), the purple leaf ash is spose to be better. The one in the pix is in rather sad shape, the bark is missing on most of one side, not sure it will make it. Give your local county extention office a call ( listed in govment pages), ask if they might inspect it for you and give ideas on how to save it, if it's possible! Make sure to ask if it needs replacing what they might suggest for your area.
