Beginner Gardening: Creeping Fig assistance needed., 0 by brendajean

I have a creeping fig that I have allowed to climb the walls and ceiling. It started about three years ago, and last Spring I had to transplant it into a bigger pot because it was totally root-bound. Now it is totally root-bound again and it is starting to lose leaves that have turned yellow/brown, plus I can't keep it watered enough. I don't want to have to put it into a bigger pot every year, but I was thinking about doing some root-pruning instead whenever it became root-bound. Does anyone have any experience with root pruning? I am afraid of killing this beautiful plant, not to mention I will have to sand and paint the wall and ceiling if it dies!
