frostweed wrote: Golden Groundsel, Packera obovata. This lovely perennial groundcover forms a rosette of oval leaves in early winter and blooms in late winter and into early spring. It can colonize a large area and prefers moist shade or semi-shade remaining green most of the year. The bloom stalk is about twelve inches tall topped with a cluster of yellow daisy like flowers that announce the arrival of spring and provide early nectar for butterflies. This is a very charming plant that deserves a special place in the native landscape. Close up of flowers. |
