The chrysalis is from the Black Swallowtail (Papilio polyxenes) and was located on a parsley plant (Petroselinium crispum) which is one of their normal host plants. The small parasitic wasps(?) are the creatures that I seek to identify. I will attach a second photo in the form of a reply to this thread. I assume that at the point of their emergence the chrysalis is merely a hollowed out mummy? No further signs of life occurred for the remainder of the season.
