In May 2008, I purchased Jacayna from a very reputable seller. Jacayna grew, but didn't bloom. Late this past April I thought I had lost her to grasshoppers. All that was left of her was a small stump. So in May I bought another one from the same seller. I started spraying my Brugs with a pesticide that reduced the damage for almost 6 weeks at a time. By late June I began to see a decline in grasshopper numbers and some of my Brugs began to regrow. The older Jacayna sent out two new shoots.

The newer Jacayna started blooming 10/29 and has continuted to bloom on and off since then producing 2 to 5 blooms with each flush. All but one of the blooms have had 6 points and all have been white with prominent green ribs. This is the new Jacayna. She is ~ 3-1/2' tall and has 4 branches.
