The perennial border is an excellent place to put your bulbs. I put daff bulbs that my son surprised me with into my perennial border for lack of any other place to put them. I have found that it starts my perennial bed early and as my border grows in, it hides the foliage as it dies back from the bulbs.

Another thing you could do is to tuck your daff bulbs in with daylilies. As the foliage on the daylilies grow, it hides the spent foliage from the daffodils.

You want to make sure you do not cut back the foliage on your daffs when they finish flowering, as this feeds the bulb for the following year. A trick that I have found works well, is when the daffs are finished, split the foliage into 2 halves while it is still attached to the ground, then loosely 'tie' the foliage to the ground. This will help to hide and tidy up as the foliage dies back and it continues to nourish your bulbs.

One other thing, when you are planting your bulbs, be sure to use bone meal and mix it in well with the soil when you are planting. This will help with root development on your bulbs....
