I found the ID in Jane Morton's book on tropical fruit trees and on Trade Winds Nursery. Now, this fruit is delicious...and I am very keen to grow it out. However, I have a tree with a fruit called Mamay (in Mexico) and Mamay sapote (here in HI) which is VERY different. The M.sapote has deep orange flesh and a very shiney oblong seed. The 'new fruit' has a seed like an avocado with a rought skin. Can anyone help here...without photos....or do I need to post a photo. OK...here is the NEW fruit: |
