HI Kell.. yes.. And thanks again for getting me the lovely seeds from your plant.. both the ones marked new and old all did equally well in sprouting out..all are about 3-5 ' now.. depending on how when where they were planted out..the one in the park.. along the third base line planted in the ground.. in apartial shade sometimes... is next to the smallest..
one in a small pot in a shadey area on the sidewalk is the smallest .. the others in pots or contaners in full sune are all flowering.. a few flowers every night for a month or so.. quite cooperative... soon it willl have the strength to put out a full flush of 50 blooms open together... I imagine.. these were planted in March I believe..
Yes... they do smell now... someone said they have the aroma of baked cookies.. or bread.. they were not far off..
MMM My Sangs... well there were three .. two grown from one batch of seeds..did great..they shot straight up to about 3-4 ft.. both were in a 18x18 x 12" tall planter. big leaves all along the stalk... with a furry mass of smaller leaves along the stalk.. these got the same food as each other. and all of the other brugs.. and the same spraying for bugs and pests.. after such a pest spraying... one of these lost all of the big leaves.. andslowly all of the smaller ones also.. I thought surely it would rebound... but every day for weeks it's looking more terrible.. now the pit and the newest leaves there are wilted and the top is limped over... I guess I have to have the ME in and have it pronounced dead... the other is jus fine.. both were in full sun.. the other hasshown no signs of discomfort from the spray that morning.. although some of the bigger leaves have dropped off from the bottom.. do sangs have to " Y " before they flower also.. the smaller side leaves.. are developing to some side branching... but no " Y " for it yet.. we'll include afew picture of it here and on another post.. of them both.. in better times for one... a few weeks ago.. before my camera died in sympathy for the brug Iimagine.. or because left it out in the rain.. it has a new board... but I've yet to get it to have all of it's settiings set so it will photograph right.. so no photos with in the last three weeks..
the third Sang.. bought as a small plant online was always just about to die... from the day it arrived... is now actually growing and looking healthy.. all be it at about only 12 " tall now
can't believe your Arboreas are so small and not flowering yet.. and from so long ago... I'm not pushing mine .. just over feeding .. and providng exotic hormones from around the world..and starting out everything in a mound of decomposed and dehydrated cow manure.. that's my major SECRET.. and an old Delta family tradition..
here's a few sang photos..first the drooping sang now... I keep expecting it to stiffen up and have the few close leaves not drooping out yet... to bring it back..
