Kaelkitty wrote: Hi Kim, A while back on the forum we had a bit of a rash of interest in this plant. This thread in particular had some great photos: http://davesgarden.com/community/forums/t/718715/ and here is one of my plants flowering in 2007, in spite of it being far too hot and underwatered! I feel like a bad plant mother! but the house moves have really stuffed my life up in the last few years. I have no photos from the 2008 season at all because I had just moved into this house and the Dracunculus pots were under the lemon tree in the new back yard, just coming into bud, when there was a massive cat fight overnight and all of the just about to flower stems were either bent over or snapped off - GRRR! (the house to the back of me appears to have an entire colony of cats living there - I have counted at least six different black and white coat patterns and there was a litter of 4 kittens this spring! - I think these people are irresponsible idiots but that's a whole different rant) Fortunately, the tubers survived the experience and I will be replanting them soon, now that the cooler autumn weather is coming in. When I say cooler, that's a relative term mind you - we hit a daytime high of 116F this summer, but it is still over 85F in my back yard today. The nights are better though now, mostly in the mid 50s, which seems to make the plants a lot happier than they were during the January heatwave when we didn't get a night under 70F for over two weeks with several nights exceeding 90F! I sense another rant coming on, so I'll say TTFN, Ciao, KK. |
