Beginner Gardening: Stephanotis and Grand Duke Jasmine question, 0 by miavcr

I think they are both still alive as when I scratch them, I see liquid. Should they be getting more sun? Will afternoon sun be too much? Would they be better in pots with good soil?
Thank you for any help. I bought them for their fragrance and have not had a single flower from either.
