Have the chives repelled mites?? I haven't had as many "bug" problems in this pot - - but it could be that this particular brug is not as susceptible to bugs. I am not really fond of the grass skirt look, as Badseed so aptly called it. I feel like I need to have at least one more year of underplanting with chives and dill before I come to any kind of conclusion. Here is one site that lists plants that repel bugs:http://www.ci.carlsbad.ca.us/cserv/2pest.html According to this site, I need to plant prostrate rosemary to repel slugs. Any one ever heard of this? If it works, I would need a truck load to deter my zillions of slugs.

I also planted dill around my frosty pink that is in the ground, and I haven't seen bugs of any kind on that brug. And I like the smell and look of dill.

Vi - White Whiskers has recovered nicely from the top breaking off after a bad storm. The sucker that I was saving for you has grown to nearly the size of the original canopy and is blooming nicely. Fortunately, it has also put out another sucker that I am saving for YOU! See attached photo taken yesterday.

RubyTues - - no puppies. Gizmo is fixed and getting older. I wouldn't mind having another papillon puppy myself. They are good little companion dogs, not overly yappy and they love cats, kids and other dogs.
