The leaves are shaped differently and it has a woody-type stem with thorns. I agree that it looks like an arrowhead plant (sagittaria), but I don't know which one. Reminds me a lot of the arrowhead plants that were sold as house plants back in the 60s. Sagittaria all appear to be wetland plants which would make sense as it was found on the bank of a creek.
