The Woman is Abagail Alfano of Pine, Louisiana - she has been studying them daily and one morning put the cup from the feeder, with water in it, in her hand; as they had gotten used to her standing by the feeder they came over to her hand. She says in touching they are as light as a feather.' The Hummingbirds are attracted to the color red (notice the red lid she has in her hand). The recipe for hummingbird nectar is: 1 cup sugar 4 cups water boil for 1 minute. Let cool before adding it to your feeder. If you have more than what you need for the feeder you can refrigerate it up to one month. Hummingbirds are also attracted to Rose of Sharon Bushes. |
