My very favorite plant is the plumeria. In 1963 when we first moved to Kailua, Oahu, Hawaii, we had two huge yellow and white plumeria trees in the front yard that were just absolutely filled with flowers almost all year long! We made leis for every school function and holiday there was! They smelled so good ALL of the time! Just so beautiful! The leis made us feel all the more part of the "islands".

Years ago the plumerias were just too expensive for me to try to buy any here, and not being an avid gardener I wasn't willing to waste the money "trying". Then one day I found one at Lowes for $26. This was no little stick....It was a full grown tree with branching in bloom! Needless to say I called my DS to bring the truck and come down there to pick it up, right that minute! It is still my most favorite flower, even above the all time favorite rose.

It will forever be a reminder of our almost three years there!
