If you had to pick JUST ONE plant, which would you choose as your favorite?
Mine would have to be the Live Oak because it's a beautiful evergreen tree that is native, virtually problem-free,and can outlive most other trees.

What Is Your Favorite Plant?
I guess it'd have to be the Southern Magnolia. It's evergreen, has beautiful blooms, smells good and is a trouble free native.
Just ONE?????
not 2 or 3 ???
do you know what you are asking but JUST ONE...LOL
I have no idea now am gonna have to rethink it and see if I can pick JUST ONE
I don't know if i can pick just one, I have to think about it too.
Iris - old iris... they ahve bene here for years marking the spots others have forgotten, they grow and bloom no matter what we throw at them... they are the heards of spring at many an old grave, homestead, or church and they are still there. I plant them here and they will mark my place long after I am gone, throught fire wind rain flood or storm they will be here marking the trail I have walked.
Just ONE? LOL
Well, I guess that would have to be the sweet olive (tea olive) tree. It's my very favorite flower fragrance.
Today my favorite plant is this peony. I have waited ten years for it to burst into bloom. Of course, it did not ask to be traded from Wisconsin to Texas, have a truckload of soil dumped on it during the construction of our home, or be moved four times in ten years. Finally we have had a cool spring, and it is opening bud after bud.
OHHHHHHHHHHHH Pat you have my plant!!!!!!
That's it that is my fav above all others so far...Bronc here is my answer to my favorite.
I love those ( oh the memories) and the white ones are the best to have as you can put them in colored water and the edges turn that color
We loved doing that at my grandma's and at home in the spring when they bloomed and they smell wonderful!!!
now if the bulbs I put in this year keep growing and make it maybe I'll have some of those in a couple of years too...but ya better watch out I will find out where Goldwaite is and drive around looking for yours ....hahahahaha
Cocoa, the first bloom has not even begun to fade. It just gets larger and deeper. My younger son is being transferred from Texas to Pennsylvania, and I decided living there might not be so bad in my very old age if I could have a garden full of peonies. Of course, I did tell my DDIL that I was going to send her this peony as soon as they were settled since it had done nothing since I got it. Guess I'll send her something else!
Phyllis, the blooms have red centers. I'll take a close-up tomorrow when the sprinkler is not running. Usually I get one small flower at most and then the buds dry up from the hot wind and fall off.
oh if you are going to get rid of ti send it my way ...LOL....it is white petals the center makes no difference cut one get a vase or glass and put some food coloring in the water and watch if...by the next day you will see the color of the water showing up on the edges.
Cocoa ~ lawn chair? How about a hammock ~ day and night. LOL
I agree Mibus, it does evoke memories. I grew up in MN. Mom had a peony bush at each corner of the house. When they would bloom, she would bring in huge cut bouquets of them. You could walk in the house and it smelled wonderful! Lore was that planting peonies at each corner of the house warded off evil spirits.
Oh yes, and remember how the ants loved them? 8 )
Beautiful blooms Patrob ~ thanks for sharing them!
oh yes shake the ants off before taking in the house LOL
never heard the evil spirit thing but If I could I would have them all around the house so no matter what window was open it smelled and cuttings in the house so no matter where you are it takes over the whole house
My very favorite plant is the plumeria. In 1963 when we first moved to Kailua, Oahu, Hawaii, we had two huge yellow and white plumeria trees in the front yard that were just absolutely filled with flowers almost all year long! We made leis for every school function and holiday there was! They smelled so good ALL of the time! Just so beautiful! The leis made us feel all the more part of the "islands".
Years ago the plumerias were just too expensive for me to try to buy any here, and not being an avid gardener I wasn't willing to waste the money "trying". Then one day I found one at Lowes for $26. This was no little stick....It was a full grown tree with branching in bloom! Needless to say I called my DS to bring the truck and come down there to pick it up, right that minute! It is still my most favorite flower, even above the all time favorite rose.
It will forever be a reminder of our almost three years there!
This is a picture of one of the hot pinks. We also have red, yellow, white, and a light pink!
Aloha Y'all !!
ooo pretty !!
I am waiting on my 3 sticks to bloom
one I ordered through the mail it already has leaves on it and the other two I got from Dutchlady in FL and the claws(?) are just starting to come out now.
Mine is the gardenia. Same reason--the fragrance.
Oh I like those too have 2 small bushes I am waiting to see if they give me any flowers outside my kitchen windows
