If you are in 7b - 8 there is a good chance that they will come back, if you cut them down to the ground, just before frost and then cover the area around them with 1-2 outdoors insulation matts, or a wheelburrow of straw, which you first remove again in the spring, when the danger of night frost has passed. I had a few that came back that way. Also, several years ago I covered three rows of Datura wrightii (perennial Datura) with straw and they came back from the roots the following spring.
