Weezingreens wrote: Well, as I may have mentioned on several threads, we are experiencing a bit of flooding on the Kenai Peninsula. Seward has a couple areas that have been evacuated, but we've only experienced basement flooding here at our house. Consequently, we had three sump pumps droning away in the basement, their hoses stretched out into the lower yard. We had a couple days of rainless weather...one was actually sunny-ish. However, the second weather front has arrived, and yesterday was so overcast and rainy that it really never got light out there. I've been forcing myself to go out and continue putting things away for winter, but it requires rain coat, rubber gloves, and boots. Raking leaves is like skimming them off a swimming pool! So, yesterday I refused to go outdoors. I spent most of the day in my "office", but mostly just played in the "Garden". By evening, as we settled in for a two hour episode of Third Watch, the wind kicked up and the power went out. DH & I just gave up and went to bed...at 8:20pm! Consequently, after a night of listening to the sumps slurping up water, I was up at 4:40am. The time change has thrown us both for a loop, and the weather hasn't helped. Perhaps it is just old age creeping up on me. When I was young, I could never figure out why the elderly always got up so early... for what?.... the morning news??? Now I'm beginning to understand it may not be a choice. Oh, well, at some point, the weather will break, the temp will drop, and it will be winter. Whatever is left in the yard will be waiting for me in the spring. Maybe I'll drink a cup of coffee at 6pm tonight so I can stay awake til 9:30! I'll be a regular night owl!... unless the power goes out again! |
