Last year, my 'Duke' started blooming in mid-November and then stopped mid-December and then held on to the inflo and started blooming again in June. 'Duke' was outside and against the house the whole winter. I've set up a temporary greenhouse for this reason: to see things bloom through the winter. Anything that has an inflo in December gets put into the greenhouse to bloom. The heat and humidity of the greenhouse really brings out the red color. This pattern, however, is not set in stone and can change so you could have inflo's form a different times of the year by the same cultivar. My 'Hurricane' (a red) used to bloom during the winter, but this year, it is blooming in the summer. Here are some December greenhouse blooms. |
