Beginner Gardening: White thing in geranium roots, 0 by masciam

I'm new to the forum and hope someone can help me. I've had a couple of ivy geraniums in a plastic hanging basket for about a year, and it was overcrowded, so I decided to move them to a large window box I have. When I took the plants out of the basket I noticed some white colored deposit in the soil and among the roots. I'm not sure if it is salt build-up or some type of fungus..? The plants look good and are growing really well.
