I have read about them, not just from the Viva(producer's) site, but from other sites, that claim the SunPatiens make it in the summer. In the heat. In the sun. Hard to believe, so I thought I would give it a look-see. From what I understand, the only retail stores to have them now are Home Depot. I went to the HD Landscaper's supply and saw the SP's (SunPatiens) there yesterday. Wow, they are big. The color selection was only white, and they were tall and leggy, not spreading out. Perhaps they were grown too closely and funnelled each plant upwards, so I didn't buy them. So to the local HD today which had them. These SP's were nicer. I saw the pink SP's I thought I wanted, but I preferred the orange ones for my garden. These are huge plants in big pots. The Viva site says 18-30" and I believe it. SP's are more like the New Guinea impatiens in looks. The flowers are huge and bright. I'll let you know how they do over time. There will be a little delay in putting them into the ground, as I am waiting for the irrigation system to be 'tweaked'. Here is close-up of one of the flowers; the blooms are large. Just thought I would share this info. tosaho AKA SandiO |
