Not sure if this translates well into america but basically all the old ladies have picked up on the word japonica. They don't seem to understand thats the last part of a name. So it would be like ringing direct enquiries for the phone number of John and not knowing his surname. I could name dozens of plants with japonica in the name and 3 that are the most commonly asked for when they say japonica. I understand its hard to understand. Naming of plants can be very confusing. It doesnt help that english and latin have been mixed to give plant names also that some common names are there latin names. Once mastered it all becomes clear. Still Purslane, Portulaca or even mose rose, its a nice plant that often tolerates harsh conditions. But rewards with lots of bright flowers. Well worth growing. I'll stick to my mezzies though. |
