Sangs and arboreas will self pollinate so they can come true to themselves by seed. But you can also cross them too to each other and also to x flavas. This is a separate genetic pool onto itself and will not mix with the other specie brugs or their hybrids. I think I read of one crossover but I do not think it survived.

The other brugs will not self pollinate so you must or nature must, introduce pollen from another cultivar of brug to get seeds. But the combinations now are endless.

Unlike the sang/arborea/x flava group, to grow another plant that is true to a mother plant, you must take cuttings.

Oddly enough, the 2 that have gone to the expense to be patented have both been reported to be difficult brugs to grow well.

What makes growing brugs such fun for lots of us, we can do home hybridizing and because they can go from pollination to flower in 2 seasons, it makes it such fun. You can also then name your seedling whatever you want and even register it for free. Also there are so many beautiful brugs, so you can easily get decent flowers on your own hybrids if you pick the parents well and even if you do not, few brug blooms are truly ugly. To start, I would just cross whatever you have in your yard and practice on them as you learn more and gather other brugs.

LOL, this is probably more than you ever wanted to know!

Here is a double just opening that I have been waiting to bloom. I am hoping the pollen will be ripe today. I will spead it on a few brugs that are single and tend to have PINK up the corolla with doubles as parents. I am hoping this will make more double babies. But I do not know that yet. But I will learn. And I am hoping. LOL
