This is H. fraterna when it started cresting. It is hard to see it in the picture, but the buds are coming from a very wide point in the stem which later divided into the two points visible in the second photo. The peduncle did not have two heads at first, it has actually grown them during and after it's initial flowering. This may not be a true form of cresting, which is a growth defect, but some sort of poorly understood branching.
