BetsyJ wrote: Marcy & AlohaHoya ~ I must admit that I kind of neglected these poor guys the first couple years I had them. =( My bad. LOL But this year I was bound & determined to take proper care & get some blooms. Back in May, I moved them out onto my screened-in porch (facing east) and decided to repot them. Found the tri-colored one (not familiar with names but would love to know if you can tell me!) was so root-bound that there was practically no soil left! (again, my bad!). So I separated the mother plant into three smaller plants ~ 2 went into 6" hanging baskets & the biggest went into the planter with the wrought-iron tower. Needless to say, they took off & have grown like crazy! With the bloom spurs (or peduncles), I'd say that was the right thing to do, no?! ha ha I also repotted the Hindu rope hoya,~ some of the vines were 4 feet long so I cut them & have new starts growing....but haven't noticed any peduncles yet. From what you've both said, I guess I'm on the right track ...just need to be patient.....and keep them well watered. THANKS!! OH! And I found another new peduncle today!! (see photo) Betsy |
