I could smell it when I was right next to the plant and when I stuck my nose down into it . But, by the 3rd or 4th day the smell had filled the entire room and was seeping under the crack in the closed door and could be smelled in other parts of the house..My family got sort of cranky about the dead cow smell and I was told to cut the flower off heh. though, if you think about it,It is a nice adaptation for the plant to have. If you are a plant living in a jungle with hot humid sweaty air and you want to get your pollination done in a hurry and you also want to get a group of pollinaters to yourself ... so that you dont have to compete as much and you can make sure that the bugs who pollinate your flowers arent visiting hundreds of other flower varieties, like bees.. THEN .. you make huge gigantic flowers that are able to pump stench and spread it through the humid hot air. Use flies an beetles not bees. works out nicely in the sense of adaptation.. But it does require lots of energy.. Anway enough rambling .. ill post my flower pic below from this year |
