Padre wrote: I just returned from a week in Puerto Rico. While working my way down a mountainside I spotted a brugmansia bush off to the side. One of the men offered to cut a path to the bush so I could get closer. His 10' walking staff disappeared in the undergrowth, the slope was so steep. He did, however, obtain one blossom for me. I took some pictures as well as pollen. I have never seen a blossom so large, almost 16" across. Is this a record? How large do the blossoms get? Unfortunately the Bronx is not in the tropics so I doubt I'll ever get a plant to grow blossoms this large. Edit to update: Today I received a box which I mailed to myself with some cuttings from this brug. I am interested in trading for some cuttings of varieties I don't have. Please e-mail me with your offer to trade indicating the variety(s) you have to trade. I have six cuttings available to trade. I will edit again when I have committed all the cuttings. Doubles and/or deep red/pink or blue :-) preferred. - - - - Edited to close offer - - - - ALL COMMITTED - sorry I don't have more at this time. If I go back to PR I will try to get more and will post at that time. Thanks for the interest - Padre This message was edited Oct 1, 2004 8:01 PM This message was edited Oct 2, 2004 9:23 AM |
