YES Weezingreens!
Stokes web site is poorly designed and their servers run painfully slow. Bad representation for an overall good company.

After several years of ordering from Stokes Seeds, I had last year the rare experience of having seeds that did not germinate. I am in no way faulting Stokes for this; germination can fail to occur for a number of reasons. No problem for Stokes...I called them, explained the situation, and was sent the same exact seeds that I had previously ordered with no questions asked, and no hassles. The replacement seeds were wonderful and I have a big half-barrel full of beautiful snapdragon seedlings coming up! The really nice part is that you can order separate types of snaps, in any size: border, medium for bedding, or the tall florists' variety, and in any colour! They have the best selection of snapdragons around from any mail order venue. They also have a great assortment of vegetable seeds, and detailed information on how to propagate everything. The customer service was polite and helpful; I highly recommend Stokes and will continue to order from them in future.

After over 2 hours of time spent attempting to place an order on Stokes website, I was given a message that the site was busy and lost several pages of information that I had posted on their Quick Order option.

If you are placing a large order, I can tell you that the Quick Order option is far from quick, and possibly doomed. Moving back and forth in the site was excrutiatingly slow. This site was not user friendly for me at all, and ultimately I lost two hours of time without any results whatsoever.

For small nursery owners, Stokes offers many options. Colors and types are separated and information on germination and planting dates are offered. This seemed like my one stop shopping site, and now I am very disappointed. I'll try again by phone, but I can't invest any more time on the online store.

Good products and good customer service from Stokes. I ordered a large $ item (Floralight system). The transaction was smooth despite MY incompetence. They fixed the errors I created and sent me the product in good time. When UPS literally DROPPED the lights on my driveway and ran, I called Stokes. I got a REAL PERSON in under a minute (no automated answering system). She got the ball rolling to replace the broken items without delay. When I told them I'd replace the light (instead of making them ship it again, they credited my credit card for the amount). Great company, I highly recommend.

We have ordered from them for years. Always slow because they must wait for check to clear. Must send it to tim-buck-too as long as it takes. Anyway thought we would order off their web site, (do this with other companies & seeds come in record time)have been sitting here for nearly an hour waiting for order to go through. Finally page came up claiming heavy traffic, at midnite? I think they need to hire Dave to set up a decent web site or buy a new computer that can handle things for them! I will keep trying because they have things that we probably can't get elsewhere.

Aside from all of the other positive comments listed here, I would add that they have the best germination info on their packs, and very helpful and knowledgable customer service for those questions you have about growing from seed! I am speaking of the Canadian website and customer service email.

I have ordered from Stokes for several years and have always been happy with their selection, customer service as well as germination rates. This is a company that doesn't go in for "flashy" full-page pictures of each plant. However, culture descriptions for varieties are correct and Stoke's usually comes in under budget for me while supplying the right amount of seed. I recommend them highly

I ordered several varieties of flower and herb seeds from Stokes last winter. Good service, everything germinated as expected. The only disappointments:

1. The envelopes tended to smudge and fall apart if they got damp (that's a plus when you're recycling an empty envelope, but not so good if you still have seeds in there!)
2. I felt the number of seeds per packet was a bit lower than packets from other places I ordered from.

But all things considered, I will order from them again, now that I know what to expect. Very good variety and a really nice catalog..

I ordered from Stokes again this year. Their website is slow and painful to navigate, although once I figured out their "quick order" option to list multiple items at once, it was much smoother. I found they were much less expensive on some things than other retailers, and they were one of the few seed companies with double impatiens at a reasonable price. The order came in promptly, and was exactly what I ordered. They'll stay on my "short list".

I've ordered a couple of times from Stokes. A bit pricey but they have many of the latest F1 hybrids. I also like the fact that many of the flowers can be ordered in a single color opposed to mixed colors. I'd recommend at least sending for the catalog. It has some great germination information.

I have ordered from this company for over 5 years now. The seed is very fresh and the germination is very good. I use their (free) catalogue as a reference for seed germination and as a planting guide. Very detailed in their descriptions. Their shipping and service is excellent. I would not hesitate to recommend them to anyone.

Since Stokes doesn't illustrate all its varieties, customers might think it offers fewer varieties than it actually does. The catalog is a valuable seed-starting manual, well-worn by me at the end of every seed-starting season. I am delighted by the detail of the seed-starting instructions and by John Gale's no-nonsense prose.

I find Stokes frustrating to do business with. Their sales people do not know much about their varieties and will not volunteer to find out from somebody in-house who might. I recently tried to back-order some seed and was told that my credit card would be charged right away rather than in over a month when the seed is expected to come in. Unless you have an established commercial account with them they have no other back-order mechanism. Stokes often doesn't ship until the following week [rather than daily…]

I've ordered from Stokes for years. They've always filled every order perfectly. The seed is good. The selection of varieties in their catalog is usually more comprehensive than almost any other company's. Their prices are almost always the lowest.

I've received a Stokes catalog for the last 2 years but never ordered from them. Their cultivars seemed more appropriate for commercial growers than for a kitchen gardener interested more in taste than in shipping and storage.
