I purchased two dozen three-year-old blueberry plants of various varieties. The Dimeos were very flexible and accommodating even after several delays due to health issues in my family and a mechanical problem with my vehicle. When I finally picked up my plants I found the Dimeos very understanding and comforting. They stayed open late to allow me to pick my plants and even gave be an extra plant as an expression of sympathy for all my troubles. The plants are beautiful, full of buds and impressively large and healthy. I have read some of the critical reviews and believe most of the problems are with shipping. Perhaps shipping is not their strength, but their plants are top quality and in person the Dimeos were a pleasure to deal with. |

The plants are very healthy looking and although not 4 feet like it says on their website they are still cheaper at $10 a piece than as if I have gotten them at one of our local nurseries.Instructions on how to plant came along with purchase and you can email them with any questions at provided address.I will update my post when I am picking those luscious blueberries off their bushes. |

We arrived at our appt. time and waited about 10 minutes before we were helped. Two workers came out to help us. They were very nice and told us about another blueberry plant we were interested in. We were about 3/4 done with the deal when the owner came very abruptly over to us and insisted we hurry up. He went on to explain that he has a meeting soon with a wholesaler and that he makes a lot of money doing a wholesale business. Also that he doesn't make much from selling individually. This made for a very uncomfortable situation and prolonged the interaction as my friend and I called him on his rudeness and lack of patience. We were fine dealing with the two workers until he came over and hurried us along rudely. At one point he got so inpatient that he told the workers to remove the plants that they had placed on the truck. We insisted that since we had driven all this way that we were not going to leave empty handed. No customer should ever have to put up with that kind of treatment... I found the owner to be insolent, rude, disrespectful and extremely inpatient. This made for a very negative and stressful experience. I will never buy nor recommend that anyone buy from DiMeo's!!! |

Found DiMeo's website and left a message that I was a home gardner looking for two blueberry bushes. Person calling back introduced himself as Mr. DiMeo. Told me he wanted to take big orders. Didn't like small orders. Tried to talk me into 10. Finally said he would sell me 5. Said he thought he'd stop selling retail because he didn't like being on the phone with people like me who had only small orders. He said he wanted to deal only with big orders then he transferred me to Jennifer to take my order. Lucky for me they don't take credit cards or I might have sealed the deal. (Jennifer was polite, but Mr. DiMeo-or the person claiming to be him- was...well, there is no way I could recommend doing business with him, especially since his website says he wants customers like me. Awful.) |
| Negative | term_of_use (1 review) | On Mar 2, 2013, term_of_use Strafford, MO wrote: Don't believe Dimeo BS Farms, their front page says 4' plants and they send you much less.......... . Don't just call them like they want you to on their website, they use that tactic to get you to purchase without telling you on the phone that the plants will not be 4'. I tried to contact them by email giving them the chance to make the order right. I thought that maybe it was a new employee had packed the order and did not know what they were doing. No returned email, 1 week and a few days later I called Mr. Dimeo himself. He made up excuse and excuses. He thought it was good business to send inferior plants. There was one that was almost the 4' but was still short by 8". The rest were 24-28"!! no where near the 48" on the website. In 40 years in the nursery trade and dealing with hundreds of nurseries I have never been ripped off, but Mr.Dimeo has set the industry back. I would suggest that you find your plants else where. Most nurseries out there will send you what the say they will, just don't believe Mr. Dimeo. Most nurseries out there are good honest businesses. Buy from them. HE (Mr. Dimeo) said that he had my address and that I should not make a complaint. ? |

I ordered plants in October and never hear from them until January when they called out of the blue on my cell phone and I happened to be in a bad location to take the call. I tried to tell him I would call him back on a land line in 2 minutes but instead of understanding, I was told that I should not be buying blueberry bushes that I needed to get a better cell phone company. I was told my plants would take 7 to 10 days and to make sure the post office didn't kill them, obviously they have this problem a lot and blame it on the postal service, and that was my shipping decision of 7 to 10 days. There was no offer of next day shipping nor a upgrade in shipping, only sarcastic comments about phone service and insults about being southern whenever possible. |

You can read about my recent experience on my blog. Needless to say, the plants come bare root. If you do a search of every single page of their website, you will not find the term bare root on any of them . . . the assumption is they are sent in containers . . . especially when you consider how much they charge you for shipping. I purchased 30 plants that came in a box with postage shown as $28.55 when I was charged $149.46. . . that $4.03 handling fee per plant. They do not return phone calls nor do they email you. They did not send an order confirmation nor an invoice. While I'm hoping the plants will survive, I have some doubt, as they were shipped without any damp material around the roots, which seemed a bit dry.. They have an "F" rating with the Better Business Bureau. there are other farms with A+ ratings that I would deem worthy of doing business with . . . but never again with this farm. They do not appreciate you as a customer at all. In spite all the claims of helping thousand of happy customers start their u-pick farms, they offered no such advice or help at all. You would do best to steer clear of dealing with this company. If you can't find the page with their shipping policy, its because they have it under their link to Privacy Policy. |

Any basic questions I asked Dimeo about the plants, I was told by the rude guy on the phone who'd been doing the job for 27 years that "get your check in the mail or the prices are going up" or "oh, let me guess this is New Mexico". I was taken aback by the attitude of the guy who was answering the telephone. I held off on sending any money. I called back a month later and spoke to Shannon who was not as rude at first or at least NOTuntil I sent the check and it cleared, that Shannon became as rude if not ruder that the guy. Having to piece bits and pieces of information together of what either of them had told me as I never got a straight answer ever from any of them, I received a 12 inch box on my doorstep when I expected a box the size of a refrigerator with no phone call stating the plants were on their way. I was expecting the 3 yr old blackchoke berry bushes not the 1 /1/2 yr old blueberry bushes which were suppose to arrive in Mar 2013 which were 4 nches tall. When I called to figure out what was going on, the only answer I got from Shannon was "you recieved what you ordered" and when I asked why I hadn"t recieved a courtesy call saying the plants were on the way she rudely states "well I'm telling you now they were sent". I told Shannon I was not happy with them because they were suppose to call and didn't. I thought geez, I spend $10 a bush for twigs, not to mention the laughter and harrassment I got from my own family members and friends. I planted them but don't know if they'll survive. One week later I get a notice from the post office that I had 3 leaky perishable boxes ready for pick up. I had no idea what they were. I didn't even bother to ask what they were they were from Dimeo, I just planted them, I was sick of not getting any answer to any of my questions. I was given absolutely no telephone calls like I was told and was expecting. Futhermore both sets of plant shipments contained only 99 plants each. I was jipped 1 plant each time. One evening I called Dimeo and left a message that I'd been jipped 1 plant. Shannon returns my call the next day to confirm the address of where to ship the 1 plant. When I inquired about both shipments, she denied that Dimeo ever sent me any blueberry plants, only the Blackchole berry bushes I ordered and that the blueberry bushes I ordered would still be coming in the mail in March 2013, like I ordered. Sure!! We can only hope. |

He'll tell you everything you want to hear, take your money and under-deliver. In March I ordered 1800 plants in the 18 month old category to the tune of $5200. I was told my plants would be 12-18 inches tall and would grow so fast that I'd be in business the following year! My shipping costs were $1600 and he told me my plants would be dug and put on a plane same day to be overnighted to me in Walla Walla , WA. Dimeo accepted both my checks before shipping 3 weeks later. I received no RECEIPT or invoice of any kind! My plants arrived labeled in 3 separate boxes by USPS and the actual shipping came to $85.00. And I had to physically go pick them up at my post office! For $1600.00, what a scam. My plants were bare root with minimal gel in a plastic baggy. The size of plants were mostly 4-6inches, a few in the 8-12inch category. Nothing was 18". My plants were cuttings taken in the fall, dipped in rooting hormone, placed in sand, and then sold to me in March. The roots were the size of my thumbnail. Tell me, who operates a U-Pick farm on 12 inch plants in one year? I called to ask questions and a sweet calm girl answered with " I have no idea what Anthony promised you". She stated the shipping cost had more to do with the wage for the guys digging and packing the product. What happened to overnite air? 5 months later I estimate about 25% of my plants still alive. With $10,000. invested into a new farm- plants, irrigation, deer fence, 90 bales of peat moss, soil acidifier, fertilizer, and tools- it's the largest retail purchase ever with absolutely no recourse. I wish someone in the state of NJ would put a stop to this scam! No one should ever buy mail order from Dimeo Farms! |

About 1/2 of them have died because they had no root system to begin with. Some have have new leaves but a majority of the remaining ones do not. They are in perfect soil for blueberries and are watered by a drip irrigation system. Please don't say I am an inexperienced person when it comes to plants either, Ii have a degree from an agricultural college In New England and enjoy growing many types of plants. I am also growing blueberry plants from other vendors and not a single plant from then has died. I am not a competitor, or someone that takes lightly leaving negative feedback for anyone. But when a company's product is substandard, weather it is blueberry plants or a computer I think we should write reviews that negative ( or positive ) for those that are considering purchasing the same product. We called a week ahead to schedule our pickup for 10am that day. We arrived a few minutes early. I called the main number and they sent a crew leader right out to open up the gate. I was very impressed with the selection and how healthy the plants were. The crew leader was awesome at helping us pick out 10 plants splitting them between mid and early season harvest. We were in and out in less then 20 minutes. When I got home I planted the 10 next to some plants I bought from an local nursery earlier this summer. There is no comparison, Dimeo's plants were much more healthy. I noticed a lot of negative comments on this blog as well as a bad rating with the BBB. I think Dimeo goes above and beyond to educate buyers through their website videos. They sell quality plants at a substantial discount to experienced growers. They don't pretend to be your "local" nursery that will spend 2 hours talking about what you need to do to plant your Blueberry Plants, and I think their videos clearly outline that fact. I think their "Jersey" matter of fact cut to the chase demeanor can be perceived as unfriendly. However, they are a business. Not your local gardening club. They are not looking to be your new best friend or gardening buddy. No matter where you buy your plants, transportation, handling, planting, location and soil conditions will determine your success. I walked the grounds for a few minutes after we loaded our plants and saw nothing but 100's of healthy plants. I cannot speak about how the plants are that they ship, but if you go the the Farm, pick out your plants, follow the correct planting advise, have good soil, a good location and keep them watered, I don't know how you can go wrong with the Dimeo plants? I plan on stopping by every August on our way back from our summer vacation in Avalon, NJ to pick up some Blueberry Plants from Dimeo and grow out Blueberry Patch. |

The entire phone call was no more than 10 minutes, eight of which he was telling me how superior his company and blueberries are and how rich and busy he is. I was absolutely astonished at his conduct! No doubt all the phone calls he gets everyday are mostly complaints. I found it interesting that before I read all the comments here, DiMeo Farms wrote two paragraphs about the negative comments below stating among other things, that we are "Haters but we really hate ourselves..etc." that these are fabricated horror stories" Blah, Blah, Blah, coming from a man who has to reap the consequences for his bad attitude. They also stated that they try their best to make everyone happy! Hah! I would think that you as a company would spend more time taking care of your customers and making sure that your customer service resolves negative experiences rather than bash people for posting about your horrible personality defect. The man I spoke to was the most arrogant, uncouth, and unhappy person I have ever had the misfortune of having a conversation with. Instead, they came with a gel substance wrapped around the bottom of the plant. The plant was more what I would call a "stick", had very few leaves on them, and were much smaller than they advertise. Additionally, the blueberry plants were not marked as to what variety so I had no idea which plants were which variety. My husband and I planted them immediately after getting them in the mail and made sure to follow the directions from the Dimeo Farms website. We made sure the plants got plenty of water throughout last summer, but it was obvious they were not going to make it. Unfortunately, the $257 I spent went down the tubes and I sure do wish I had just picked up plants from our local supermarket that looked 90% more healthy and were a third cheaper. What a waste! |

After several months, they finally offered to replace them for $65. No way would I give them another dime!! |

But, when you have a kid with medical needs, you sometimes bite the bullet and forge ahead anyway. We did and I'm really relieved that we did. We requested labeling via email and received partial success on that front. We did local pick-up and the gentleman who helped us was exceptionally knowledgeable and forthcoming. The retail arm (sales to home-owners) is only about 2 years old and there is evidence that modifications are being made as buyers make their desires known. So teach them how to make you a happy customer! We ended up buying more than we had ordered and we'd do business again in a heartbeat. |

The man on the phone was very helpful when I placed my order and my plants were ready when I went to pick them up. They are very nice, big plants and they loaded them up in my truck quickly. I was given planting instructions, and my husband planted them that night. I have known the family since I was a teenager when I worked for their blueberry farm - they are still as friendly as they were over 20 years ago! We're starting small this year with our berry garden, but we plan to go back next year and buy more blueberry plants and maybe even some raspberry and blackberry plants. Thank you so much for a great deal on really nice plants :) |
