The local post office called as soon as they came in. I picked them up within 15 min. of the call. I immediately took them home to put them under a heat lamp. I first showed them the water and when they were all drinking they were shown their food. I kept them confined to a small space and constantly monitered the temperature. The first 3 days I checked on them every 2 hours even in the middle of the night..I set my alarm to get up. It is June 13th now and all the peeps are doing very well. I have doubled their space to roam around now and check on them every 3 to 4 hours to regulate heat, I will lower it each week, which I will do up til they are about a month old. I live in PA and the temps can drop to 56 degrees at night.. on those nights a second heat lamp is turned on to keep a consistant temp for the peeps. They are all very healthy and very active. This is my 3rd order of peeps from "My Pet Chicken" and the past orders were all very healthy peeps also. I have been raising chickens and geese for over 6 years now. I have 20 adult hens of which 10 came from orders from "My Pet Chicken". I like the fact that I can order as few as 5 peeps at a time. I had to pay for special heat packing to ship just 5 but it was well worth it to get the special breeds that I wanted. All of the past orders of peeps have grown into beautiful adult birds and I'm sure this order will too!!! I am very pleased with my dealings with "My Pet Chicken". Wonderful website with lots of information on chicks. Thanks. |

Their customer support is timely and helpful. The chicks have all arrived in good health. Last years batch were all pullets which is exactly what I wanted. I would definitely recommend MY PET CHICKEN. |

(I paid extra to have them sexed so we won't know for a few months how successful that went, but NO ONE ELSE sexes banty's!) They hatched on May 8 or 9 and I received them on the 10th in the morning. They seem happy and healthy so far...I was concerend about one really tiny one that seemed a little slower then the others, and when I contacted MPC about her they gave me some tips...one was to give them a little protein. I boiled some eggs, gave them a bit last night, and this morning when I put some egg in the little one grabbed a piece and ran with it! So she is already getting a little spunkier. All in all service has been great...I have emailed them at least 3 or 4 times and they always get back to me within a day. I love my pet chickens! |

The hatching day was May 2nd and I got my 6 Red Star chicks the very next day. Six chicks are the minimum number to be shipped all the way to Hawaii. The ladies arrived in very good condition and are very active. They started eating, drinking and playing right away and are having chick naps frequently. They even learnt to drink from the watering nipple in 5 mins. The only drawback for me was State of Hawaii's agricultural regulations which add 3 to 4 week lead time to obtain Poultry and Bird Import Permit which all was handled and taken care of by My Pet Chicken. Would recommend! |

No bill of lading nor care instructions with early March 2011 shipment out of Ohio. Within the 48-hour guarantee I emailed MPC that 4 chicks were dead and one dying. Their response was feeding instructions. By the next day 17 chicks were dead. I sent them another email. MPC response was I wasn't keeping them warm enough. (Of course they didn't get cold coming out of Ohio.) Next response from a third person was that I should have been more responsible when adopting pets and out of the thousands of customers they only have one or two dead-chicks complaints a year. These chicks were never bought to be pets. MPC graciously refunded $13 for the original 4-5 dead chicks. |

My only issue with them is their change fee policy. They charge $10 for any changes you make to your order - that in itself is not the problem..but they fail to let customers know that they regard a change, anything that they are able to do on their side..so let's say you want to add a chick or two to your order and the chicks are available - that's the point they consider the change successful...it doesn't matter if something on the customer side prevents them from completing the change such as a declined credit card..the $10 change fee is still applicable...this happened to us...as a consumer, I was always under the impression that a change is complete when the payment is successful...but not so with My Pet Chicken...as long as they can do the change you are requesting, this to them is a successful change and you are responsible for this charge..I feel they should make this clear on their website... |

They had all but 1 variety available, so they shipped what they had, then shipped the missing variety (plus an extra chick) the following week for free. All of them were healthy, and all have survived. I love the variety that they offer. |

This past fall I ordered 4 hens-- a Rhode Island Red, a New Hampshire Red, an Australorp and an Easter Egger. The chicks arrived safe and sound, and are now strapping, happy pullets. |
