This spring I ordered some a few dozen apple rootstocks, a couple of grapes and Lingonberry. My trees from 1997 are also doing well (they were Northwoods then)

My comments:
It arrived at the time I asked to send it - within 1 day. I used air-mail because I am on the east coast.
Very well packed - all roots were wrapped in paper and dipped in gel beads - I cannot think of the name for it
One of the grapes was potted, the other was bare root.
Both were good sized and had good root systems.
The lingonberry was flowering in the pot!
The rootstocks were of good quality, better rooted than others that I have seen - I grafted onto them using the whip and tongue method to multiply my own trees and make a few new ones from the scions I purchased from Fedco Trees.

My opinion:
One of the best companies that I did business with.

By the way, grafting is not as hard as it seems. It is the only way I could afford the trees that I have. It takes me less than 6 minutes to make a new tree. The process - cut a scion with at least 2 buds at a steep angle with a straight edge knife, line up the cambium, wrap with a rubber band (not too tight), apply sealing compound and presto - 90% are usually successful.

This Spring I ordered a pomegranate and a fig. They both arrived in fine condition, but when the fig leafed out it showed strong symptoms of mosaic virus. I emailed the company to warn them that their stock was infected, but have never received a reply, or offer for a replacement. Their other plants may be okay, but the company has lost the respect I once had for them. It should be illegal for nurseries to be shipping diseased plants.

I just came across this web diary today of someone who had worked at this nursery and it actually mentions Northwoods knowingly selling figs infected with fig mosaic virus -- as I observed in the plant that I received in 2003. What else is there to say.

In 2002 I ordered 2 hardy passiflora incarnata. I live in Zone 6b northern nj. The plants arrived in excellent condition. They both grew to over 12 feet the first season, at least 40 flowers on each as well as some fruit that ripened before the frost hit. We had a pretty rough winter here and I thought the plants were a gonner! As soon as the ground warmed up mid june here the plants popped out of the ground, its about 2 weeks since they sprouted and are almost 2' tall already. I will order from them again, and refer anyone to their services. Great job guys!

They've done it once again! I've moved to MA and am currently starting a garden from scratch here. I ordered 2 Umbrella bamboo, 2 petasites, and 1 passiflora. All arrived on the day I was told they would and in excellent condition. I have passed information about One green world on to all the gardeners I know. The plants were packed so they would not shift in the box and all arrived healthy and beautiful. The staff was also very knowledgable and helpful over the phone when I called to place my order.
Thanks again guys

Helpful getting a mate for a plant needing a pollinator when the other nursery couldn't do the same. They worked through a glitch (I sent them the wrong VISA number!) and everything worked out well. The plant arrived in great shape and is happy in its new home. Great packaging but my isn't the post office proud of their shipping service?

I live in the southeast and my trees didn't arrive until the first week of April when other trees were leafed out. After a week in transit, of the 5 asian pear trees that I ordered, several had broken side branches. I got them in the ground immediately and the leaf buds are starting to swell slightly but I have got to say I think they are all off to a shakey start. I might also mention that they nearly broke their neck charging the trees to my visa. I just wish that they shown as much speed getting my trees out to me.

I ordered a 4 in 1 combo red fleshed apple tree (which is something that wasn't available elsewhere) & a blackberry. Both plants were in excellent condition with nicely developed roots. The prices were higher compared with other places, but the plants were excellent. I'm looking forward to seeing them leaf out!

I have been ordering from One Green World for 6 years and haven't been disappointed yet. The prices might seem a bit high on some items but the stock you get is worth the few extra dollars. Large, extremely healthy plants. A good selection of lesser known edible fruits.

We have been ordering large amounts of seed, perennials, fruit and shrubs for the farm over the past decade. For fruit, we highly recommend (among others), One Green World - unusual fruit that thrives in zone 4/5.

One of the best mail order nurseries in the business. They are on the cutting edge of introducing new plants as well as hard to find traditional and native ones. Their paw paw trees are shipped in long pots to protect the tap root; mine have done very well while friends who are good gardeners have ordered from other companies have had no success at all. The staff is fun to deal with, honest and well informed. Of the dozens of catalogues I get, this is clearly my favorite.

They're nearby; I visit them once a year. High quality merchandise and knowledgeable staff. Always replace my failures even after two years, but I keep receipts and bring the carcass! Don't know if the same service applies to mail order. Advertised hardiness zones are overly optimistic. Owner travels world wide to collect and introduce new stuff, conducts local classes.

I ordered pruning shears. I placed the order May 1. I confirmed on May 2 with a promise of shipping on May 2. They did not get shipped till May 10 and did not arrive till May 17. They had promised 3 day shipping. Also, the published shipping charges were very high so I negotiated a lower shipping charge. I got the pruners, they are great. I also received a flyer advertising 15% off on Spring orders placed before May 24. So I called and asked for 15% off. I got a reply that I apparently did not understand the promotion. I don't think they understood my point of view. All told, they were a very frustrating company to deal with although the product was acceptable. I will not order from them again. After all this, I found the pruners at a lower price elsewhere, with no shipping charges.

I was very happy with both the plants and the service from Northwoods Nursery in Oregon. The plants arrived in good shape and have been going strong for several years. Moreover, when I inquired about getting some unusual berry and apple species that seem to be native in and around my father's homeland, Estonia, they researched the query and were honest: They told me what they could get for me, while they referred me to other vendors for those items to which they had no access. This is kind of merchant with whom I will have a long relationship.
