Comments regarding Mail-Order Natives (Mail Order Natives)

I've ordered several fothergilla plants, a fringe tree and a sourwood tree. The two trees were small but with excellent root systems on them. The fothergilla were exceptionally nice; large with the same excellent root systems.

I planted the fothergilla and the fringe tree last October and they are doing well. The fothergilla colored up nicely in the autumn and had some blooms in the spring. The fringe tree has been putting on a lot of growth this spring. The sourwood just came yesterday so we'll see how it does this summer.

I've been very satisfied with the plants received so far. Now I am on the wait list for a mountain laurel and a franklinia.

Disappointing shopping experience. Although they have a very interesting plant list, about 95% of it is "Out of Stock", and 100% of the plants I was interested in are in that category.

I have received good sized plants for really good prices from them. Its good to find good sized native plants.

I've bought 3 times in the past year (2020) from this company and have been astounded each time at the sustainable packaging, the affordability of native and hard-to-find plants, and the beauty and maturity of the leafed out specimens. Absolutely gorgeous.

Ordered 7 plants. Packed well/shipped promptly, healthy on arrival. Will order again in the future.

Excellent plants at good prices, all were healthy & carefully packaged for shipment. Very good customer service & communication. Shipment arrived just when they said it would. I especially wanted a Spicebush (Lindera), and this is not the easiest plant to find! This was my 1st time ordering from Mail Order Natives, but it definitely will not be my last.

This is my first order, but it will not be my last. I received two GREAT fothergilla gardenii plants. Better yet, I was communicated wih throughout the process. I knew, within a two hour window, when they would arrive.

I'll be back!!

I ordered a couple of Coral Honeysuckle in the morning and told them anytime in the next 2 weeks. An hour later I got an email from Emily saying that the vines would be going out that night and to expect them. Two hour later I got an update that they had been shipped

They were packed really well - much better than from other mail order plants that I have ordered. They arrived healthy and bushy and 3 weeks later they are starting to climb the trellis

Recently I was looking for a very hard to find camellia. The only nursery besides Mail Order Natives that had it listed showed it as Unavailable as did Mail Order Natives. I emailed Mail Order Natives to see if any would be available this season and Emily quickly wrote back that she had a couple of "starter pot" size. I was thrilled and received them today. They were packaged well and well branched. I am very happy with the quality of the plants as well as the fact that they were willing to go above and beyond to send me just two plants.

I will definitely be ordering from them again.

I was interested in ordering some fruit trees, and I had some questions. So, I gave Mail-Order Natives a call. Nobody answered—the recording said that they were "busy," and to leave a message. I did just that.

Guess what? They never bothered to return my call. Well, they just lost my business. If they don't want it, I'm sure there are plenty of better companies out there who do. ;)

I bought 2 oglethorpe oaks last year, one is thriving but the other one died. Mail order natives refuses to send me a new tree, they wouldn't even offer a discount. Would not recommend this company!

We do in fact ship replacement plants free of charge to the customer. We will replace any plant that is damaged or unhealthy upon delivery. We also replace plants that do not make it up to a month after shipment. Unfortunately, this order was over 6 months old. Our replacement policy is clearly stated on the website under store policies: "We DO NOT guarantee plants after they have been planted for several months, because we have no control over an individual's gardening practices or climate." Mail Order Natives is one of the very few places where I’ve seen Zephranthes atamasco for sale, and I’m very happy to have found this wonderful nursery. Their service is absolutely top notch. The plants I received were much larger than I expected with about half a dozen offsets per pot. Even though I ordered the plants a bit late into the season, I’ve already seen a good number of blooms. I’m definitely looking forward to ordering more plants from Mail Order Natives in future!

FANTASTIC!! Everything about this experience was very positive. The plants were shipped EXACTLY on the ship date I specified and were HUGE for a one gallon size. One of the three plants was even sent with flower buds, which all survived the shipping. The prices are dirt cheap for what you get, and can't be bettered elsewhere...just try! I also like the quick order confirmation, shipment conformation, and arrival confirmation. There were no weak links here, just sheer professionalism. Bravo, Mail Order Natives!

Ordered 9 plants on the evening of 10/31/17. Received my plants this afternoon. All were in great shape. This was my first mail order purchase of plants. I was very pleased with the price, order confirmation, shipment confirmation ( the day I requested),and the quality of the plants. I may be spoiled! I will definitely be ordering from Mail Order Natives again.

I ordered 3 spicebush (lindera benzoin) and 1 hoptree (ptelea trifoliata) in September 2016. We waited for October shipping due to heat in the shipping region. The bushes/tree were very well packed and had very healthy roots when received. Fast forward to April 2017, and I'm so thrilled with how healthy they look this spring as they emerge from winter dormancy. They each have brilliant new green leaf growth and look like they should be healthy and vigorous growers. I would not hesitate to order from this vendor again!

I was very pleased with this nursery. They have a good selection of plants. What I ordered was received in four days and looked very healthy. It is thriving in my garden.

I needed some native azaleas and had no luck through normal sources. The reviews were good, the prices were right, so I pulled the trigger for the first time with theses folks. I was impressed by the plant sizes and root systems. I pot all my mail order plants into a mix with my garden soil to generate more roots and acclimate them. After a brief scare by one of the five plants, they all look great after a month and I'm even happier.

This was my first experience with this company but I felt pretty confident ordering because of the good reviews here. The box had obviously been tossed around quite a bit, so I wasn't surprised that after 5 days , the plants inside looked a little rough with some breakage and heat stress. But I potted them up and set them in a sheltered spot and now, just a few days later, they all look great. They are very healthy and I am very pleased and can't wait to get them settled into their new home. Will definitely order from them again.

Plants arrived quickly, were carefully packaged, and both plant costs and shipping costs were very reasonable. Both items I ordered this winter have leafed out and look very healthy. Very good experience. I will use them again.

Mail-Order Natives has been able to make it into my Top 5 online native plant sources and that's saying a lot. I've now placed 2 orders, for 7 different plants, with them and every plant has thrived thus far. Their prices are very competitive, the plants are packaged well and the shipping charges are reasonable. They don't ship huge plants but every plant that I've received was extremely healthy, which is the most important aspect when purchasing plants. A small Red Buckeye that I planted in the Fall of 2013 is growing very vigorously this early Spring and will bloom for the first time!..:)

I have ordered plants multiple times from Mail Order Natives over the years, and I have always been satisfied with the plants. Their selection is great, and they are highly responsive; their selection of natives is outstanding. Amy is a pleasure to work with, and their prices are reasonable. I used to order from ForestFarm, but Mail Order Natives is my go-to place now, and especially because I live in the Southeast.

I recently ordered 6 "Native Azaleas" supposed to be 1 gallon in size. On arrival all 6 where so tightly packed in the box as to cause damage and those that still having leaves showed excessive transpiration to the point that once removed from the box the remaining leaves fell off. The root balls appeared rather small and investigation showed that they were root bound to the size of a 2.55 qt. pot, not a gallon as was advertised.
On the upside they arrived in less than 72 hours from the ship date.

Received my order for a Sassafras tree yesterday and it looks just great. The plant was 18" tall and well-packed even though it's only a one-day trip via UPS. I'll be ordering again from Mail Order Natives.

Very fastest shipping. Very healthy plant with great root system. Nicely packed with biodegradable shredded packing which I put in the garden. I have told my friends about this company and will be ordering from them again soon.

I have used this site to purchase several native plants for my new home in Zone 8A (near Augusta, GA). On all three occasions, the plants arrived in extremely high quality. Prices and shipping are reasonable and I will most likely use them in the future.

I just received two big boxes of the most gorgeous plants, and they came two days after placing my order. They were lovingly packed, and one plant came with flowers. Amy responded quickly to my request to change the order, and the next thing you know, the plants were here. I don't think it can get any better.

Mail Order Natives is one of my favorite places to order from. I raise butterflies as a hobby and they always have the host plants I need. They also provide native plants that are nearly impossible to find elsewhere.

For my latest order, I was told they were on vacation and my plants would not ship until the following week (June 16). This was fine by me and my plants arrived today (June 18). They were well packed and I could still feel a bit of moisture despite it being mailed through the Florida heat. I ordered Wooly Pipevine and Dwarf Passion Vine. I can't wait until the caterpillars find them!

I have ordered from Mail Order Natives three times: twice recently and last autumn. Their plants are the best value for price, selection and quality. They have a purely "native" inventory. All the plants I've received are doing fantastic, very little adaptation time--it's like they are native to my yard. Mostly I've order chokeberries, iteas, euonymous americanus, cyrilla racemefolia, styrax americanus, ilex glabra, ilex amelanchier and something called lindera subcoriacea (bog spicebush). No frills website and minimal email notices but the orders come quickly--they'll depart the following Monday and arrive on Wednesday. Mail Order Nursery has been a great find for me, they are definitely one of my top 5 online nurseries. If you want hardy native plants for the southeast this is a great resource.
