Beautiful, lush clematis from a very knowledgeable grower. The plants arrived in perfect condition with large healthy root systems and healthy top growth. Detailed instructions were included and all e-mail inquiries were answered quickly and courteously. I would definitely recommend Debbie to others. Her plants and service are outstanding.

Let me say that my experience with Debbie at Silver Star Vinery was excellent. I am not always fond of ordering mail order plants for obvious reasons. Debbie responded immediately, gave me kid glove , personalized treatment and the amazing varieties were sent in a timely manner! The plants arrived in great shape and were vigorous vines for my sister's birthday. Her site is a beautiful gallery of some very neat clematis vines! I would order from her again!

Silver Star Vinery offered large plants in gallon sizes. I ordered two Clematis and one came with about a 3" diameter root ball and the other appeared to be bare root with some loose potting soil wrapped around it. They did not even come close to being the size promised.

I ordered 5 clematis plants and they were the largest, healthiest, most vigorous plants I ever received in the mail. The selection is fabulous and prices are reasonable. Wonderful vendor! I ordered 4 clematis plants. The roots are huge. Very, very healthy plants and they are doing very well in my garden. When I told her I needed a fragrant clematis to somehow mask the neighbor's odorous kenner, she offered to send me a couple of laburnum seedlings as freebie, and they are pretty healthy plants, too. Debbie is reliable, responsive and provides quality plants. She also has a good website with good descriptions. She helped me finalize my choices, since I'm new to clematis and was very helpful and informative. I live in Southern California and I have a lot of great options here for plant sources. But for clematis, I would still buy from Debbie again.

I ordered 8 clematis from Debbie few days ago after reading all those positive feedback. I hope my clematis will come as nice as yours. I put neutral rating because I have not gotten mine yet, not until April, so we will see how its then.

I ordered two C.'Piilu". The "little ducklings" came carefully packed. When I opened them up, I was not only pleased by the enormous rootmass on each plant, but I was also surprised to find that, in addition, each rootball had a half-dozen healthy vines covered dense foliage sprouting from it.

Thank goodness I found Debbie. I now have some wonderful clematis that I would have never found anywhere else. And yes, they come in beautiful shape. We are definately lucky to have Silver Star Vinery! But, beware you can become addicted!

My clematis has a terrific root system, and beautiful, lush foliage. In the one month since I received it in the mail; it has more than doubled in size (over 3' tall) now, and several new shoots to boot!

The first time I ever contacted her, (via email), Debbie was prompt in responding, and so helpful. She makes you feel like you've known her for years, and will do anything to accommodate your needs. My plant was shipped the very next day, and received by me (out of state) the day after that!

I highly recommend her plants, and outstanding method of packaging and shipping! I can't wait to order more next Spring.

I received the healthiest strongest clematis plants I have ever purchased anywhere. I knew when I saw them that these plants are grown and tended by someone like me who loves gardening and flowers.

There was a good selection from which to choose and each of the four Silver Star Vinery clematis I ordered arrived carefully packaged and in terrifc condition--with great root systems and fresh green foliage. It was such a treat to receive such large helathy plants. I just cant compliment the owner of this nursery enough- these plants are that good!

Over the past few weeks, I have received mail order clematis from five different vendors. They varied in size and price quite a bit, but I'm happy to say that all the plants are thriving and happy... from every vendor. The clematis I received from Silver Star were the most expensive, but they were also the largest, most impressive specimens I received. To simply say that Silver Star's are "larger" is an understatement. They are, by rough estimation, at least two years older than the clematis you receive via other mail order sources. While this may not be an issue with some plants, for clematis it can make a big difference... as you need a bit of age on the plant before it will really perform well for you. If you are looking for just a few cultivars to add to your garden, Silver Star should be your first choice as a vendor. If you are looking for many cultivars to add to your garden, then I would choose Silver Star for the cultivars you want as your "stars" and then order the ones from which you do not want quick performance from the less expensive vendors. The health of the plants was comparable between all five vendors I tried... it just depends on your expectations and the timing you want for high performance in the garden. I think it would be impossible to find a better clematis available commercially than what you receive from Silver Star. A+++ vendor.

Wonderful plants and great service. All clematis plants arrived yesterday in great shape, very well packaged and with labels. Plants are huge compared with what you get from other nurseries (1 gal). I am very happy and can recommend the nursery to anyone. Will be ordering more this season.

For those interested in clematis, this is the mother load. the roots are HUGE, equal to 3 or 4 year old plants, among the largest available by mail anywhere. Deb, the owner has a great shipping method that helps make the roots easy to plant. the vines, service, expertise are all top notch.

A few weeks ago, I ordered Princess Diana and Avant Garde from Debbie. I had read many positive comments in various threads on the Clem forum about Debbie and her plants. I couldn't believe how quickly I received the plants from Washington (I'm in Florida.) I can't begin to express how excited I was at the high quality of the plants. The root systems were unbelievable.

In addition, Debbie was very prompt in answering my e-mail in which I asked numerous questions about planting. I immediately learned to love her because of her sense of humor and personality. Her passion for her trade is very obvious.

Since then she has answered another e-mail in which I had additional questions and I plan to order even more from her. I can't remember a night in the last month that I haven't spent time at her beautiful website. I only wish I didn't live so far away from her because I would LOVE to visit her vinery and meet her in person.

Fanatastic plants and excellent customer service. In 2008 I bought two Clematis 'Embers' . This was a new red, herbaceous cultivar that turned out to be a very weak performer. One died within two weeks of receipt and the other hung on until fall before giving up the ghost. I contacted Debbie and she said this cultivar had definitely not lived up to it's hype and immediately gave me credit for both plants. I am happy to report I just used my credit to purchase two new clematis for delivery in spring 2009. Her nursery is always my first choice for clematis.

I ordered a 'Barbara Harrington' and a 'Jackmanii' and was sent extremely healthy plants with (most importantly) a very well established, vigorous root system for planting this Fall season. I ordered my first ever clematis from Debbie at Silver Star Vinery on 8/16/08 (Claire De Lune and Niobe). They arrived promptly and I followed Debbie's planting and watering instructions carefully. As Debbie predicted, the plants lost a few leaves immediately after planting (the 100 degree heat wave didn't help) but one month later they are both thriving! I'm amazed at the new growth and vigor! They are already well on their way up the trellis. This was my first experience ordering plants online and I'm 100% satisfied.

As a new clematis gardener, I really appreciate when someone takes the time to answer my questions. I ordered a Comtesse de Bouchaud on Monday and received it on Wednesday -- nearly 2000 miles away! Excellent service! This was my second time ordering from Debbie at Silver Star. The vine had a huge root ball -- even larger than the ones I ordered last fall. The green was very healthy with no signs of stress. It's so refreshing to know that there's a real person at the other end who takes good care of both her customers and her vines! Thank you, Debbie!

I ordered some clematis from Silver Star Vinery last year and was so happy with the plants that I ordered more this spring. I recieved my clematis today and they were excellent. I recieved my plants two days after recieving email that they were on there way. I'm impressed with the great root system on these clematis. The plants were also very healthy.

Debbie was very responsive and gave me lots of information about growing clematis in addition to communicating about my order. I ordered two vines and they both arrived exactly when she said they would, very well packaged and in great condition. Amazing, well-developed root systems! One even has a bud on it! I planted them per her directions and they both appear super healthy and ready to grow. Can't wait to see the blooms. I will definitely purchase from Silver Star again and would recommend them to anyone wanting to further their Clematis addiction.

I have ordered several Clematis from Debbie. They have all had the healthiest, most massive root systems I have ever seen with healthy, thick, multiple stems. She trims them back before shipping to ensure they produce even more stems after they are planted. Several of her Clematis have bloomed twice for me the same year they were planted, grew up 5 and 6 foot fences and vined over into my roses, truly a spectacular sight. I even had one that I let scramble through my perennial bed and it looked awesome, throwing up blooms with several other plants. I can't say enough about how impressed I am with the quality of her Clematis, the planting instructions and Debbies dedication to her customers. I have ordered from 6 other Clematis suppliers through the years and after I ordered from Debbie, I have not ordered from anyone else. I give Debbie 10 stars and two thumbs up.
I have to say, regarding a negative post here, that I have no doubt the Clematis died as a result of over-watering. You can grow hundreds of Clematis and still have the capability of "Loving'' (WATERING) them to death. In my experience, even though Clematis love water, you can over water them and kill them when they are newly planted. I know this from experience because I have killed them myself this way. I have dug them up to find the stems and roots rotted away. Once I backed off on the water a little, I was fine.
