My first experience this year with Janie and Fernando and I have to tell you I could not be happier. My plants are healthy, happy and have been a pure delight to grow in my Earthbox garden this year. Outstanding people and outstanding products, what more could a grower ask for?

Very healthy plants, very well packaged! Actually, I was *really* impressed by the packaging.

Minimum order was 12 chile peppers, which I didn't need. I wish I could order 6 instead. But especially if you need that many or can merge your order with one or more friends, I highly recommend Cross Country.

I'd wanted to order New Mexico green chiles from a place in NM, but the only mail order place I could find was sold out. This place is from Jersey, but they carry the same (and more!) varieties.

I ordered a bunch of chile plants from Cross Country Nurseries. Let me tell you-they were/are the healthiest, most vigorous chile plants (and plants in general) I have ever purchased and received by mail order! The plants were far superior in quality than even "top quality" plants sold at local premier garden centers and nurseries. I was very happy to see that the plants are grown strictly organic and you can tell when you receive your plants. When I received my plants by UPS and opened the box, I couldn't beleive how healthy the chile plants were and how carefully they were packed. There was no damage to the plants -big plus. When checking the plants for aphids or other pests before introducing to my greenhouse, I found no pests or fungus of any kind-just this factor alone gets a high score! The customer service was two thumbs way up!! (To the owner-Thanks Janie for all your help) The selection was very large and the descriptions and photos were very helpful! The plants are thriving in my greenhouse and will definately and happily order from Cross Country Nurseries again and again! I will share my great and pleasing experience with friends and fellow gardeners.

I have been buying plants of all kinds through the mail for years. Buying from Cross Country was a real pleasure, from the web site, to the front door delivery. The packaging used with this company is so good, I had no damage what so ever, and the plants were in perfect shape. A real pleasure to see quality service back in todays no service world !!

There are 2850.12 miles from Cross Country Nurseries to my front door. Each spring I anxiously await the arrival of my new 'babies', and year after year they arrive looking wonderful.

I'm frugal by necessity and I must admit that I had to ponder long and hard that first year, wondering if I would be satisfied with plants that I hadn't picked out myself. As soon as I received my babies I realized I had made a wise choice. If I were to drive to my local garden center and could find Hawaiian Sweet Hot Chile Peppers, and other unusual varieties, I would inevitably damage them at least a bit by transporting them to my house in my vehicle with my three children. It amazes me every year that there isn't so much as a bent leaf from Cross Country. The young tender plants arrive in their transport carrier absolutely flawless. After a rest and a quick drink and they are full of life. I transplant them to bigger pots a few weeks later, then out into the garden about mid June, when the nights are finally warm enough not to disrupt flower setting. I've had plants arrive with blooms that don't drop, but actually fruit before I transplant to my garden.

Through the years I've ordered small lots, now totaling nearly 100 plants and have never lost a plant, not just in shipping, but throughout the growing season. My neighbors thought I was crazy the first few years,wheeling my red wagon filled with plants outside during the day and back inside during the cool Washington nights. I think they still call me the crazy pepper lady, but they line up in my yard and ask for peppers at the first signs of ripening pods.

I am impressed with the quality of the plants from Cross Country Nurseries, the attention to customer support that Janie provides, and their awesome online encyclopedia of pepper information with pictures. A truly magical combination that will keep this crazy pepper lady happy year after year.

I want to add my praise to the feedback for Cross Country Nurseries. I have been ordering plants from them for at least 7 years and have never experienced a problem, either with plants, charges or service. Plants arrive exactly as ordered, at the time they are expected and are always vigorous, healthy and just as advertised. Consistent improvements on their website has made it easier and easier to shop for and purchase their plants and products - they really know how to make it work for their customers!

In all the years of doing business with them and literally hundreds of plants I have ordered from them, only ONE plant ever arrived in poor condition. That plant was immediately replaced by Cross Country and their advice about how the resucue the ailing plant actually helped pull it through.

Their customer service is very responsive, always providing prompt personal and courteous support. A company you cannot go wrong with!

My order of 15 different tomatoes and 15 different peppers arrived today and I think they all look great and the packaging was strong. They cost 3.00 each and plants at the local nursery here are 2.50 so I am ok with spending a little extra for the unique varieties that I ordered. BB

This year is the first time I've ordered from Cross Country, but I will definitely be back again! My plants arrived in robust and thriving condition--better than I've seen at local nurseries--and they were packaged beautifully. Last year we ordered from another online nursery and were very disappointed in the quality of plants...not a problem this year! I can't believe the difference in quality between what we got from another nursery and the healthy, gorgeous plants we received from Cross Country. Needless to say I plan come back again next year. Highly recommended!

I would highly recommend this company. Last year, I ordered from them for the first time, and, due to my impending honeymoon, I was worried about the plants arriving when I was out of town. I called them, they made an exception for me and got my order out early, and the plants were in great condition. They ended up the most productive plants in my garden. I really appreciated their willingness to go the extra mile for me, as well as the obvious quality of their product. I will definitely order again this year.

I do not order off the internet very often because you just don't know what you will get. But after talking to Janie on the phone last year and getting set up to order on the first of this year when the plants became avalable, I was more than happy to do business with them.

Then to my surprise the order arrived ontime....and in super packing materal that enabled you to get them unpacked with out any hassel or damage...And the plants were in super condition...Much better than most of the plants I have seen locally..

Even though we are in south Texas i deceided to plant in buckets so that I could put indoors the few weeks that we get cold so that I could have them going good all year round. Especially the Boonie Plants. These are raised in Guam which has a tropical climent and they bloom all year round.

The plants have all done exceptionally well (I do not have a green thumb) and all are thriving and producing...The regular pepper plants have put out fruit twice now and all the fruit they have produced have been large and perfect...no defects or runts...

First time customer, but I will return next season. Awesome selection of pepper plants. My initial order arrived on time, in great shape, and VERY well packaged. Decided to take advantage of their June sale to try out a variety of peppers, and those larger plants arrived in surprisingly good shape-of the 12, only one did not survive. An excellent operation.

I've ordered hot pepper plants from different companies for the last 4 or 5 years. Never could count on the quality of plants I was going to receive. I Recently ordered 24 plants from Cross Country Nurseries. I was really surprised when I opened the box. The plants were extremely healthy; almost as if I had hand picked them myself. The plants ranged from 6" to 9" tall.

The order was also shipped on the date promised.

I am 100% satisified with the order and will use Cross Country Nurseries in the future.

I've ordered plants from Chileplants.com (Cross Country Nurseries) for 4 or 5 years now, and the quality of their plants is consistently excellent! I have spectacular results with all varieties here in the Virginia mountains (we're on the border of zones 6 and 7). The various Anchos are prolific and robust, the Habaneros and similar types produce literally hundreds of pungent fruits per plant for me, and the Marconis are the sweetest peppers I've ever tasted (the golden ones grow to about 9 or 10 inches in my garden!) Not only is their selection amazing, but their service is great, too!

I have ordered a dozen chili plants each year for the past 3 years. The plants arrive on time, very well packaged, extremely healthy and ready to be planted. I have experienced a very healthy and high yield each year and get so many peppers, they last me throughout the winter (in the freezer).

This is my first time ordering from CCN, based on a recommendation from a fellow gardener that has been using them for several years. It is obvious from the pristine condition of the Chile plants on their arrival that CCN truly cares about the work they do. I ordered 24 plants, about 12 different varieties of sweet peppers and chiles; and they arrived exactly when I was told to expect them. The plants were packed in a simple yet clever cardboard six pack that held them steady, yet gently in place, and there was no stress evident at all. CCN gives instructions on handling from arrival to planting, and I like the fact that they are users of seaweed fertilizers as opposed to commercially manufactured fertilizers.

I have been ordering chile plants from Cross Country Nurseries for five or six years. My garden is small so I only order 100 or two at a time. The plants are always delivered at 1500hrs., Wednesday, on the specified week. The shipments are perfection. The soil in the pots is moist and properly contained. The packaging is triple reinforced and sturdy to avoid crushing. The plants are always strong, well developed, wonderful color and vigorous. I have never received a damaged plant. In fact, there has never been a damaged leaf. Within a hour of unpackaging the plants are upright and vibrant. Much as Janie CCN recommends. I transplant to 4" pots, water with fishoil-phosphorous solution and give increasing amounts of light. In two or so weeks I transplant out. There is never any shock or stunting and I gain two months on the short PA growing season. I get three large harvests consistently. I have grown 50 of the 500 varieties offered. Always superb results. I have recommended this service to my friends and they are equally satisfied.

For years I grew my peppers from seed, since no nursery around here had the varieties I wanted. Once I discovered that I could get HUGE plants, ready to prosper and bloom for about the same cost (without the everyday care of seedlings) I was hooked. My only problem each year is narrowing the number that I want down to the number my garden will hold! I have ordered from CCN for 4 years now and the one time I did have a plant not survive, they replaced it promptly. Plants come at the scheduled time, and they are always producing fruit WAY before any one else in this area even thinks about peppers. LOVE THEM!!

We've grown many varieties of chile plants from seed for at least 10 years, and have perfected one way of producing high quality plants. This year (2004) we ran into trouble with our Joe Parker chile seeds -- they didn't germinate. Already into the Florida planting season, we expediently ordered a dozen New Mex "replacements" from Cross Country Nurseries (//www.chileplants.com). Not only did the plants arrive in pristine condition, but they were every bit as healthy as our own home grown Jalapeno and Ancho chile plants. Kudos to Janie at Cross Country Nurseries for her outstanding customer service, prompt processing/handling, and superlative plants. Clearly, Cross Country Nurseries goes the extra mile and I'd have no hesitation of any kind recommending this outfit to anyone.

I've been mail-ordering peppr plants from Cross
Country Nurseries for 3 years. When my first shipment arrived I was amazed at the quality of the plants. They were packed in a sturdy container and the plants appeared strong and well watered from the trip. Complete instructions were included on how to prepare the plants for the garden outside. Throughout the spring, summer and fall the peppers grew stronger and produced more than enough fruit for myself. I've ordered the last 2 years and the quality is always exceptional.
Another big plus is the website and catalog. Over 400 peppers are described, pictured and catagorized. I have used e-mail to make comments or ask questions and have alway recieved a reply within 24 hours. Cross Country Nurseries is my only choice for peppers.

First, their 500 varieties told me I was in the right place. Their web-site is so well organized that it was easy to choose which varieties I would select. Their advanced search has them cross-referenced by 9 different parameters, heat, size, etc. They responded immediately to my e-mails. Their growing tips pages are packed with useful info. Yesterday the plants arrived, in strong, secure packaging. They were in beautiful condition, strong and healthy, and even larger than I had hoped for. I'll not only be buying all my chile plants from them from now on, I'll also tell my friends about their wonderful service. I am 1000% pleased, with their service and product.

I have been ordering from Cross Country Nurseries for a few years now. The selection of peppers is amazing and the website with pictures, descriptions, and usage information is great. I am a serious mail order person and I can not think of any company who packages its products as well as Cross Country. I just received 12 large, healthy pepper plants this week. I believe there was one leaf that fell off one plant. They looked healthier than the plants from my local nursery.
In addition the folks I have corresponded with have been a pleasure to work with. The quality and customer service are both outstanding. I will continue to be a customer for years to come.

I should have ordered my chili plants from Cross Country in the beginning, but I ordered from Kracken Premium Plants instead, and was disappointed by the really puny, spindly seedlings I recieved. (Too bad I didn't know about Gardenwatchdog then!)

So, I went ahead and ordered replacements from Cross Country Nurseries. Even though I had to order at least a dozen plants, because that is the minimum, I will still order from this company every year.

The plants are robust and strong, not weak and leggy. They are in beautiful condition, and are sent with complete planting and care instructions. The selection is phenominal, and the care that was taken to pack the plants for shipping was exemplary.

Cross Country has a new fan! I'll be ordering here every year, and well, if I have to have lots of pepper plants, then I will make a lot of salsa this year! Oh, darn.

My husband and I have been purchasing our chiles and pepper plants from Janie at Cross Country Nuseries for at least 4yrs. The plants are packaged so well that on arrival they have all their blossoms, and little peppers completly undisturbed. She ships them with complete planting instructions for your area, there not just general instructions. Janie takes pride in her business and has an excellent product to sell. When we harvest our chiles and peppers from Janie they are the absolute best peppers we've ever bought. We hope she never stops production, because we'd never find another company with the same qualities as hers. Give them a try. I can highly recomend this company. This will be the 4th straight year that I have purchased plants from them. The variety count is staggering( I think it is over 500!). My plants have always arrived in absolute perfect condition. I had one very minor problem that they bent over backwards to correct. If you want the best organic tomato and pepper plants, give them a shot I think you too will be back year after year!
