Comments regarding Montoso Gardens

I ordered two mangosteen trees and a cupuassu from Montoso Gardens, all of which arrived quickly and in outstanding condition. They were healthy, taller than I had expected, and packed with obvious care. Bryan was also kind enough to answer all of my questions regarding the cultural requirements of my new plants (and there were a lot of them!). I plan on ordering several more trees from him in the future, and would recommend Montoso Gardens as an invaluable resource for the tropical plant enthusiast.

This nursery came highly recommended to me. I was certainly glad to have ordered from here. The transaction was flawless and the plants arrived carefully packaged and in perfect condition. Communication was great w/ Bryan and e-mails were answered promptly. Some of his selections are not available elsewhere so if you are considering ordering don't hesitate. I wasn't sure how shipping would go since the plants were coming from Puerto Rico, but I had absolutely no problems and would order again.

I ordered two rooted Vanilla cuttings and was very pleased with the cuttings. They arrived the day after they were mailed and had no shipping damage. The variegated Vanilla is especially beautiful and looks great all potted up.

I will be ordering more plants from Montoso. Thank you so much Bryan.

I have ordered from Montoso twice since last month but still amazed how nice and neat and quick that one can ship the plants; and these plants are healthy and beautiful; very pleasant to look at.
Another amazing thing that Bryan, the owner has replied and supported every questions that I had regards to my purchases; I still don't know how he can do that but he does.

My GF lives in Thailand, and being a bit of a horticulturalist (orchids, bonsai, insectivorous) I try and collect the fruit and plants of Thailand.

I had searched the internet for quite a while before I found Montoso Garden. Was I delighted to see Mangosteen seedlings (GF's favorite of course) as the seed I had tried before failed.

Brian offered open communication, the shipping was lightening fast, and the trees arrived bigger and better than what I was expecting.

So all in all I definitely recommend this company.

How do you explain customer service this good? Bryan at Montoso Gardens is an able nurseryman who clearly and accurately described his stock, then managed to get my shipment delivered in one and a half days! Customer Service/Quality IS AT Montoso Gardens.

Bryan was excellent at responding immediately to all my emails, and gave excellent cultural advice. The seeds and cocoa pod arrived in three days to the UK. The cocoa beans are already germinating. I was greatly impressed and plan further orders and maybe a trip over to Montoso gardens some day.

I recently purchased some Tahitian Gingers from Bryan and his cost was extremely reasonable. When I received the plants I was amazed at how big they were for the price and how carefully they were packaged to keep from getting damaged. I found this site by accident. I was searching for rare fruit on ebay. Bryan is a rarity in this niche market. He brings so much to the rare fruit growing market. I was interested in aquiring cacao plants but since I am in Chicago I was concerned about shipping in the winter. Bryan suggested that I start from seeds and I agreed. He emailed me and offered to send an entire pod from which I was able to cultivate robust seedlings and even help my daughter do a science fair demonstration on the cultivation of cacao. Bryan's interaction via email and prompt responses are really refreshing and are so welcomed in an electronic age where the typicial communication is with some machine or help desk. We moved to Rincon, PR last October. We have had a house her for 5 years but finally made the break and now live here full time. My wife is in love with Heliconias. She found the Montoso Gardens website and contacted Bryan Brunner about coming for a visit. In March, when my son and his family was visiting, we went to Montoso and Bryan gave us a wonderful guided tour. We posted an article and lots of pictures of our visit.

We bought a variety of heliconias and gingers and they are all doing well. Bryan personally cut the rhizomes during the tour. If you are ever in western Puerto Rico, and like to garden, we highly recommend a trip to Montoso.

I am always looking for new exotics to grow in containers, heliconias of this type are few in choices in the states.I saw Bryans co. online and checked them out.WOW! is all I could say. I ordered many dwarfer forms of heliconias, they shipped quick, notified me ahead of delivery, and packed the rhizomes perfectly, I will definately do business again!What a great nursery.

I ordered a Theobroma cocao fruit. He didn't have the size I ordered so he substituted two smaller fruit that were more than I ever expected. Shipping was very fast and prices were more reasonable than any other I found. I would highly recommend and plan to order again real soon.

I ordered mangosteen trees in June 05. I am pleased beyond measure -- the palnts are simply gorgeous, and arrived healthy and unwilted, with intact taproots. Bryan actually send along an extra -- he said these were the "scraggly leftovers." The plants beg to differ! They are robust and covered with new growth.

Email communication with Montoso was also a pleasure. Responses were quick, complete, and very informative. Don't let the fact that they're in Puerto Rico scare you off -- Montoso is very professional, and the plants arrived quickly, safely, and with their inspection certificate.

Bryon has shown incredible patience with me over the last at least 6 months. Questions on this and that and especially bugging him about mangosteens! Well I finally got them. For anyone out there concerned about having their plants shipped bare root, don't be. The four plants I received were well packaged and looked fantastic. If they were not to survive, it would be due solely to my care. Lots of knowledge, passion about his work, and great plants. What more could you ask for?

I had been searching plant sources all over Southern Florida for Cannonball trees for over a year but couldn't find them anywhere. I discovered Montoso Gardens' web site; I searched the plant offerings and was absolutely delighted to find that Bryan Brunner stocked Cannonball trees.

I ordered three in 4" pots and they arrived last week. I expected small specimens of maybe a foot tall or less, but was amazed at how large and healthy they looked! Bryan packaged them in their shipping carton that there wasn't one leaf off any of the trees and all three were about 27" tall and bursting with healthy foliage. What a great value they were and I was really totally impressed by the quality of Montoso Gardens' nursery products! I will not hesitate to "internet shop" Montoso's web site catalog for any future tropical tree needs! On a scale of 1 to 10; I'd give Bryan Brunner's Montoso Gardens' plants a "10" in quality and give Bryan a "10" in the all-important service catagory.

Small ones, big ones, hanging ones.... they all arrived in great shape! (Heliconia rhizomes, of course.) Although I placed an order in the middle of January, he graciously sent the order at a safe time for them to be shipped. I can't wait for them to bloom! I will shop here again-

I placed 2 orders for Heliconia rhizomes from Montoso Gardens. The rhizomes that I received were very large and fresh. They were expertly packaged and labeled and arrived in perfect condition. Service was quick & professional. Fruits arrived very quickly as promised. Although fruit was substituted, worked out well.

Simply put: the Heliconia rhizomes I ordered were of the highest quality and were much larger than I expected. The prices are low and the customer service is high. The shipping was quick. What more could you ask for? I heartily recommend them and will not hesitate to order from them again!
