I never received them. If SpringHill is doing fine why aren't they filling orders that have been taken? I hope they contact me, as that would be the polite thing to do. They need to let customers know what is going on. |

My plants, etc. were received in excellent condition and of very good quality. Should I even have a partial order that did not fare well after planting, a simple phone call to any of the companies resulted in a prompt replacement and usually a replacement of the entire order. I'll also miss the many catalogs to read during the winter months. |
| Positive | KevinLeonard (1 review) | On Dec 1, 2001, KevinLeonard wrote: I have to say, that those of you complaining about Spring Hill's catalog misguiding you on how your garden will look are sadly naive about how advertising works. Everything you see on TV and in magazines is a ploy to get your money. The product could be painted and glossed or taken in a mature state so it looks its best to the consumer. Would you put your house up for sale with out first making it look its best? I would like to add that Spring Hill has always taken care of my orders on a timely schedule and has always gone the extra mile with bonuses and follow-ups. Over the last 5 years I had probably spent 800+ in money and always had better plants for the money vs. the high dollar nursery plants that come from in town. The variety from Spring Hill is spectacular. Yes, occasionally I would receive one pink instead of all red but how many times have you been to a department store and clothes are placed out of order. Also How many of you could manage a company this size perfectly? Spring Hill, if you are still out there, I am ready to build some gardens. |

The one time that 2 or 3 plants in an order was received were dead, Breck's/SpringHill replaced not just the 2 or 3 plants but the whole plant order. I never received this kind of treatment from Michigan Bulb. In fact they did not even replace the ones that were damaged or did not grow. |

I have gardened since I could crawl. No human in the world can get 100% bloom from plants. Gardening is 1 part bust your buns and 9 parts prayer. So many factors come into play and not all can ever be fully guaranteed. In view of this I deeply appreciate a company willing to replace, refund or substitute on the word of the customer alone. Keep up the good work guys. All my coworkers also love your products. So keep on shipping those catalogs, about the only extras in the mailbox I don't toss out nowadays. |

Trying to reach customer service for a credit is a major nightmare. Now I get a bill from a collection agency wanting the balance. Now I have to deal with that fiasco. Never again. |

I have spent several thousands of dollars in the last couple of years. I am proud to saythat my complaints have been very few and those few have always been taken care of in a very professional matter. This means 100% replacements, very friendly and helpful customer service, and timely shipments and replacements. I was surprised to learn that all three companies all belonged to the same parent company. I feel very saddened by this loss, seeing as the only other company I have ordered from is Jackson & Perkins. I really loved Breck's "buy now, pay later" program. You were never obligated to pay a cent until you had received and inspected your order. To me this was peace of mind. If you weren't satisfied all you had to do was call. No extra postage to send back dead plants, just a call and your word, kind of like the old days.I dig and move my bulbs every fall, and they still do great the following spring and summer. I can only imagine what an established garden I would have thanks to their great products if I could just leave them in peace. I was unaware that they were going out of business until a couple of days ago. I had placed two orders with Springhill for $150 and another order with Breck's for $216 to be shipped for fall planting, and considering the fact that they have went bankrupt I still received all three orders the last part of last week and hadn't paid the first penny on any of them. Now if that isn't professionalism I don't know what is. I'll truly miss this company as will every one that I have shared flowers with.I ordered 250 tulips from them last fall and they really outdone themselves this spring. When I dug them up this week, I have my original 250 bulbs, plus approximately 250 off spring which I have given to my mom, aunts, and sister at noCost to me I might add. I hope I have half the good luck with the next place I order from!!! If I order from another place! |

By the time the corrected bill came I was down to one red plant that survived. I have been trying to contact them by phone, however their phone gives a constant busy signal. I have sent them a note along with a payment for half of the balance they requested and told them that I have only 1 plant that survived the planting. I have been harassed by a credit agency on behalf of Spring Hill for the past 10 months. I ordered plants in Fall 1999, planted them, they died, I wrote a letter to Spring Hill for replacements, no response, no plants, bills, bills, and more bills, I spoke with a customer service rep., more bills, called again, credit agency has been sending me invoices since December 2000. I can't believe they expect me to pay for dead plants twice. I have been a customer off and on for the last ten years. What brought me back was their replacement policy. Most of the times the plants I purchased did not make it. My credit is great with the exception of this $40 bill to Spring Hill that I don't even owe. I have decided that buying mail order plants is not worth it! Thanks for letting me vent. |

They NEVER came back after the first year I planted them. They say that have a money-back guarantee, so I emailed them a few months ago, to let them know my plants never came back. These were gunneras, a very expensive plant. Being honest, I already paid for them, and now they are not growing at all anymore, and I will never see my money back. Only about 20% of plants (and I have ordered a lot from them since 1993) have ever grown well. I'm upset that I won't see my money, but they deserve to go bankrupt after the lousy service they gave. |

When I try and call the number they have provided all I get is a busy signal, EVERY TIME. This has truly been one of the most horrific mail order scams I have ever been a part of. DON'T DO IT, go to Home Depot or your local nursery and save yourself this pain. |

The sales person was very helpful and stated that all my order was in stock and since I live in zone 5 that my plants would be delivered beginning May 1st. When May 15th arrived and no plants I called and they said the order would be shipped immediately. My new gardens were tilled and ready for planting May 1st! When another week went by and no plants I called again and still got the runaround. Finally after threatening to go to Tipp City Ohio just to get my order, they connected me someone at Tipp City and he promised to sent me the flowers and plants. I did receive them about 5 days later. Over 250 plants and 33% were beyond life. It seemed like they just wanted to pacify me and get me out of their hair. I told them that if other people ordered this volume and price that I could understand why I had to wait more than a month and a half for my measly order! My red garden never arrived and didn't arrive until the middle of July. They sent me 3 cards of $25 of credit which I used to replace a few of the dead ones, but I still had many a bare spot in my garden when the plants belonged. I also ordered Black elephant ear caladiums and finally after 2 years I got them in June. One was packaged perfectly but the other was very beat up. They were in the same box. I never had any problem with their packaging, just the quality of their product. So much for the lifetime guarantee. Both elephant ears did live and I guess I should count my blesssings that they don't owe me any money but their plants were not #1 quality and I would never spend a large amount of money with them again, even if they live again. |

This spring my first flowerbed bloomed and I was excited because, I could imagine what it would look like when it was all in full bloom. Well, that one small flowerbed was all I got to enjoy. Not one of the other beds bloomed into anything. I waited all year and waited and waited. I read so many good things about Spring Hill but it looks like I got sent all the old bulbs or something. I had paid $300.00 of my account, but I refused to pay the rest seeing that the area I planted all these thousands of bulbs is just as BROWN as it was when I started. IT WAS A HUGE DISAPPOINTMENT. I learned my lesson and won't ever buy from them or any other catalogs again. |

Three years ago I ordered two of the lifetime peony collections (6 bulbs) and only one of them even sprouted a leaf. I also ordered twelve red freedom hedge roses. I asked their customer service representative to tell me when they would be shipped so that I would know when to start preparing my soil. I was told that they would arrive at the end of March. However, they showed up the first week of March and there were only six in the box! I called the customer service number and had to speak to several people to convince them that I only received six plants--each one practically called me a liar and said that the order was double checked before it left. They finally agreed to send me six more. It was quite an inconvenience to receive the roses three weeks before I was told because I hadn't even begun to prepare my soil! By the way, the roses looked beautiful the first two years. This year they looked terrible! Only one plant actually has leaves. They also have lots of spots on them. I thought they were supposed to be insect and disease resistant! I was just getting ready to call them for replacements, but now after reading the comments on your site, I'm not so sure I'll get anywhere. |

I live in the Midwest; in 1994, I ordered a large shipment of plants in the Spring, but because of the heavy rains in the area at that time, (the 1994 flood resulted) was unable to plant them for an extended time after receivingthem. When I could wait no longer, I finally planted them. Due to the top-quality of the merchandise, they survived and thrived for years. I think it is a shame that in today's world, we cannot count on anything-quality does not seem to matter, even if we are willing to pay for it. If, for a certain time it does, due to competition for the almighty dollar, companies are forced out of business to compete, in time. I really hope they can reorganize and regroup to become the company I have always believed they were! |

Thanks to them I have one of the best landscaped yards in the neighborhood. I get compliments daily from neighbors, friends, and complete strangers. I am proud of my landscaping and 75% of plantings came from SPRINGHILL. I've spent well over $1,000 with them over the past 3 years at this new address and it has been worth it. I like the catalogues, their planting ideas, special plants price groupings, and their satisfaction guaranteed. I cannot say one negative word for SPRINGHILL. I'd like to thank them for making my new residence so beautiful. I enjoy being a customer of theirs and hope I don't ever run out of space to plant. All of my gardens last 3 seasons, I just wish there was such a thing as a winter garden, but that might be asking too much. I have had 3 or 4 plants die and the 1st time speaking w/ someone they said give it another season and if there is any failure they would replace it. And they did. When I bought shrubs from a local nursery and called them in spring asking for a guarantee---they denied it laughingly. |

For the past month, all three of their customer service phone numbers have been busy, all day long (I am attempting to make dozens of calls over the course of their business day). I have not been able to get to their website to email them (I keep getting server busy or not available messages). In years past, I never had problems like this with Springhill, and they were always the most prompt about replace dead plants. Has anyone else noticed this incredible downturn in the company? I am starting to feel like they are intentionally billing customers for plants that were never shipped. I spent $1784 with 4 different mail order nurseries this year, and Springhill was the only one that I had problems with. The most frustrating thing is that the customer service representatives (when I've actually been able to speak to them) have no desire to fix the immediate problem, much less the obvious underlying problems with Springhill's system. |

Then I try to log on to Spring Hill's website after receiving yet another catalog (which usually quickly goes in the recycle bin) because I feel it's time to let these people know how frustrating it is to spend a lot of money, time and effort only to have everything die, but I can't get on.
