I am a little concerned about the true identity of the people who posted negative comments about this company. I order from Springhill, Breck's, Michigan Bulb and shop my local Lowe's and Home Depot for plants. I have a beautiful 1.5 acre homesite and lots of room for gardening - thank heavens for Cottage Farms when it comes to specialty trees or unique plants that I can't find elsewhere. Their prices are great and thus far, everything I've ever received has been nothing shy of what they promised. I am currently working on a new website where I can let everyone know about our garden progress, as we just purchased a new home (new for us, built in 84) and we've been updating INSIDE the home, but now we're working OUTSIDE. However, due to a wreck in March, I'm recovering from a broken leg and am having to rely on helpful family/friends to help me plant my plants but I'm NOT new to gardening as this is our third home (and final purchase, we hope!). I'll be proud to tell everyone that I got my roses and my weeping cherries from Cottage Farms. On June 6th, 2007, kriswalker added the following: Have received another shipment of plants from Cottage Farms, and while they are a little small compared to others such as Sooner Plant Farm, etc., they are healthy and are doing well! My rose is budding out and so are the ones I gave to my mother and sister. My sister is moving so she put her rose in a bucket with potting soil and it's doing very well! The tree has new growth all over it. I also had ordered some hydrangeas and other plants - small but healthy! |

We have been purchasing from them for at least 6 years and have never had a negative experience. Yes, we did have to contact them twice about plants that did not come back the following year however they were always very nice and extremely helpful. I thought their custmer service was outstanding!! We have bought close to $1,000 worth of plants and bulbs from them over the years. I can honestly say we refer CF to family and friends all the time! Only an extremely statisfied customer would do that. Thanks to everyone for sharing their stories. I do however have a hard time believing that CF has given them a hard time about any of their past 1 year purchases. Their guarantee is outstanding and they have stood by it with us everytime |

Both have displayed disrespect to me when I complained about my 7 orders this spring. QVC first screwed up the orders (sent dead plants, empty box, etc...). Then they told me to contact Cottage Farms - who refused to replace the dead plants and send the missing plants. I reminded them of Philip Watson's statement "We aren't happy if you aren't happy.." but they still refused to correct the problem. I paid in full for all items, and now have lost $400. I've found that SpringHIll Nurseries surpasses Cottage Farms in HONESTY, PRICING and RESPECT!! PLEASE BEWARE OF QVC AND COTTAGE FARMS!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! On May 11th, 2007, fun2garden added the following: LIARS! Please ignore the "kind" message from the company. I have printed a copy of my QVC orders which shows credit card payments, and have contacted my bank regarding transactions from QVC, so obviously Cottage Farms and QVC don't know what they're talking about. I received a call today directly from Cottage Farms (possibly the representative who wrote the comment),but he refused to solve the problem with the orders. I even offered to fax a copy of my evidence (although I wasn't wild about sharing bank account info with those who've already mistreated me..),but the fella said he didn't need it. I am FURIOUS with Cottage Farms' disrespectful attitude and QVC's lack of concern about the issue. Neither company cares about customers...they are only out for your money. So beware gardeners, don't get caught up in the evil web of Cottage Farms! On May 14th, 2007, fun2garden added the following: As if I haven't told you enough.......here's another report! Last year I ordered a set of 3 sub-zero roses. They were very pretty, but did not grow very tall. They did not return this spring, so I contacted Cottage Farms. They sent a replacement set. Guess what?? The replacement plants were dead upon arrival. Gee, that makes sense - replace a dead plant with another dead plant. Who's running the company??? I give up! Cottage Farms and QVC will no longer receive orders from me!!!!!! Buyer beware!! On May 9, 2007, Cottage Farms responded with: " On May 10, 2007 11:21 AM, Cottage Farms added: Cottage Farms is more than happy to stand behind our products with our one year warranty; however, we consulted with QVC about this customer and her orders and were told that the orders she is wanting replaced were not paid for. We do want our customers to be happy and we strive to make sure we meet that challenge by showing the same respect to each question or concern that we receive. In some instances, we must consult with our trading partners to insure that all customers are treated fairly and in this case we found that this customer was asking us to send and replace plants for which she never paid QVC. After calling numerous times i receieved my roses in May. All 3 were extremely small but i really wanted the sterling silver so i planted them anyway. The princess DeMonaco and Margaret merril never grew and sterling silver shows signs of rmv. I called cottage farms to request replacement for the 2 that did not grow and was told they would be sent out next planting season. I had to call several times the following planting season to get them to send them to me. Finally the end of May again the replacement arrived. 2 floribundas not hybrid teas like i ordered and both of them very small and both very dead. |

They will work with you and for you, any way possible. My tree roses are just absolutely gorgeous, as is everything else I have ever purchased from them. I may no longer work for this company, but I will certainly continue purchasing my plants from them. |

I just planted my 8 mini roses after purchasing a few weeks ago. I held off on planting a couple of weeks since we were having a little late cold weather, but replanted the plants in some peat pots and kept them indoors until safe to plant. Yes, they were small plants, but the price was only 20 bucks (or close) for 8 plants! They arrived in good condition. One even had a bloom. After a little tender loving care, they seem to be doing quite well. So far, so good and I will purchase again. |
| Positive | faithsgarden (1 review) | On Mar 27, 2007, faithsgarden Dacula, GA wrote: In April of 2006 I purchased the 10 piece miniature rose collection from QVC by Cottage Farms. They arrived in beautiful condition. We planted them in the proper location and they arrived at the proper time to plant for our deep south zone. I never did anything except mulch and a little cutting back and I had little vases of miniature roses all over our house until late fall. I even took them each time we went to friends houses. They produced abundantly and beautifully. Now it is March 2007 and they are coming back strong. Two of them didn't fare as well as the others and I thought maybe they just needed more care (bloom boost food, etc.) last year, but they are already looking stronger than last year. It has been my experience to order from a grower that produces near or in my zone. Those plants always seem to do the best. Cottage Farms is in my zone. Was considering ordering daylillies and hydrangeas from them this year. |

Some of the plants I received were covered with insects. I was very upset, since I had opened the package indoors. I immediately took them outside, but was nervous about the insects infesting my other plants. I planted everything I purchased immediately, but very few plants survived. I contacted QVC to get replacements, and they told me to contact Cottage farms directly. Once I contacted Cottage Farms, they said I would have to wait until the next growing season, so I did. I contacted them again in March 2006. I placed my replacement order through their website, and waited. I never received my replacement plants. I called them, and they would say that they were on their way. So, I would wait longer. I eventually received a couple of plants, but they were not what I had ordered. I was told again, that I would have to wait until the next growing season. It is now February 2007. Cottage farms no longer has their website, although they are still listed as selling through QVC. I am very dissatified with Cottage farms and QVC, as QVC could have aided in resolving this issue immediately. |

I, too, ordered plants from Cottage Farms via QVC - hydrangeas, hibiscus, rose trees - to name a few. My hydrangeas are HUGE, healthy and the envy of my neighborhood. The hibiscus (ordered in 2005) wasn't in the greatest shape when I received it - but I planted them anyway and 1 out of the 4 plants lived AND BLOOMED! I contacted QVC, then Cottage Farms about the 3 plants that didn't make it and I was assured my plants would be replaced when the 2006 season arrived. Just as promised, I received my replacement plants - plus an additional plant at NO CHARGE!!! I live in Illinois (not usually a hibiscus-friendly climate) and am so proud of all my plants from Cottage Farms - and my hibiscus are unbelieveable - the new ones already blooming (they've only been in the ground about 4 months) and my 2-yr. old plant is almost 6 feet tall, blooming like crazy since late June. Everyone who sees my plants are extremely impressed - and I would expect QVC/Cottage Farms will receive several new customers after seeing my garden! And they make great gifts too - my mother loves her rose tree!!! Cottage Farms, keep the great plants coming --- I'll be there to buy them! |

Most of the daylillies lived, but everything else I bought died. I also bought two different rose collections, miniature roses, and two other plant collections. I contacted QVC and they told me to deal directly with Cottage Farms. Cottage Farms offered me less than 10 dollars worth of plants from their "leftovers". I will never buy anthing from Cottage Farms or QVC again. I hold both Cottage Farms and QVC responsible since both companies guarantee satisfaction. I replaced the miniature roses with ones I bought from the local grocery store and the grocery store plants are doing well! I also bought many plants from White Flower Farm and the plant quality and packaging far exceeds the garbage I received from Cottage Farms. I strongly recommend you do not buy anything from Cottage Farms or QVC. |

I saw no growth that year and hoped that maybe it would "come to life" the following Spring when Dogwoods normally bloom in my area. When Spring 2005 game and tree still showed no signs of life, I sent CF an email about Dogwood Tree and was promised a replacement at "proper planting time" the following Season. This is now Summer 2006 and no replacement has ever arrived. Will never order anything from them again. On August 18th, 2006, brendatn changed the rating from negative to positive and added the following: Need to revise my feedback to postive. As I was posting my negative feedback, a replacement tree was already on its way to me. CF emailed me to advise me they had also had problems with the Cherokee Chief Dogwoods and shipped me a Rose of Sharon as a replacement. The instructions said it would take two years before it would bloom, but it already has one flower on it and many, many buds ready to open within days. Customer service has been very helpful. They must monitor this website because one of their responses came from here. Problem resolved. Will give them another chance next Spring. |

They have never replaced any plants that have died . Stick to you local dealers. QVC needs to drop this company from there shows they make a big deal about replacing plants just try and get them to. Back in February I placed an order for 4 of their tree roses and one hibiscus tree. I just received my order and to my surpise I only received one of the items I ordered. I was only shipped two rose trees (one was a variety I did not order) and nothing else. When I called to figure out what happened, I was told apparently they never shipped, but they would get them out to me. No apologies. The two trees I did receive looked dead with black mold on them. I told them not to bother and refund my money. They agreed which is a positive, but I just cannot believe the order was so botched without any care. I ordered this direct from Cottage Farms' Web site. I also ordered a set of minature rose bushes from QVC from Cottage Farms and they are all dying. Will not do business with them again. |

I do not understand why QVC continues to use them as a supplier. There are so many other mail order places that they could use with superior plants. Good luck, if you ever try to call them and talk to a real person. We ordered twice from them, all disasters, will NEVER use them again. |

One of them was a TSV from a few years ago - a mini-rose collection. Most of them did very well the first year but three died. Those were replaced after I emailed Cottage Farms. Now those miniature rose bushes grow well over four feet tall before I prune them down a little! They bloom like crazy until the first frost. I also bought a peony collection. It takes a few years for peonies to establish themselves and this past summer was their third year. I took lots of pictures of my gorgeous blossoms. Other items I have ordered have done well, too. This past spring (2005) I ordered a tree rose directly from Cottage Farms. It didn't do anything all summer and it looked funny with a "stick" planted by my front entrance. But now it has filled in with a nice leaf ball and there are currently 14 blooms on it! We will have our first frost in probably two weeks or so and I will be sure to winterize it because I certainly don't want to lose it. It is so lovely! |

My blackberries and red raspberries are growing just as they indicated they would. This is their 3rd year and I have made blackberry jam and raspberry also. The daylillies are beautiful. I did purchase a mini-rose collection of 12 plants and now only have 3 of them left. I can't blame this on anyone but myself as I can kill a rose faster than you can blink an eye. A shipment of black raspberries, 12 to be exact, never even grew. I allowed 2 months for them to do something and when they did not grow I called QVC and they promptly refunded my money. I would buy from them over and over again. Sometimes we buy plants that are just not a good match to the climate or soils. This has happened to me when purchasing things at a local garden center. I would recommend them highly(Cottage Farms). |
