Despite a fair seed selection and good seeds, this year (2023) will be the last time I order from renee's garden. The decision has nothing to do with seed quality or variety and everything to do with seed prices and shipping charges. Most seeds are priced between $2.99 for common types and $4.29 for less common (but certainly.not rare.or unique offering that cant be found elsewhere). As for shipping, all I can say is WOW! I wouldn't have ordered this year either but accidentally submitted the order BEFORE seeing that tje shipping charge for 19 packets of seeds was almost $15!!!! Seriously? 15 packets would fit in a USPS envelope with postage at less than $5! I've found several other companies to try this year that I feel will easily suit my seed needs much better! |

After ordering, I received a message that my order would be processed within 14 to 16 BUSINESS days, considerably longer than just 14 to 16 days, and that after that it might take 6-12 BUSINESS days for the order to reach me by UPS or USPS. I placed an order on March 12 and on March 24 I received an update that my order was expected to ship soon, although I haven't heard anything further and haven't received a shipping confirmation. |

I ordered a few packets of perennial flower & herbs seeds as well as some saffron crocus. The seeds arrived in just over a week. The seeds had excellent germination & the plants grew well. The crocus arrived mid September, I planted them right away, by early November they were blooming. All but one of the bulbs bloomed and around half of them ended up blooming again. I was shocked & pleasantly surprised to see this. For comparison I had also ordered a few saffron crocus bulbs from another company (those bulbs were smaller & more expensive than Renee’s). Not one of that companies bulbs bloomed. So thank you Renee’s for the beautiful saffron threads I now have. I will be a repeat customer. |

I am not inexperienced starting seed but the germination rates were a very mixed bag. Some things did very well others less than 50% or even 0% on the chocolate flower. My orders from fedco and baker creek were normal they came up like they should. I don't know that I wouldn't order from this company but I would be very careful about what I did order. |

The first one was not great, I am thinking that it was just bad luck. The second one, the Sea of Red lettuce were first to sprout when planted at the same time as Salad Bowl and Prizehead and I estimate the germination rate is close to 90%, so I am now a happy customer and will buy seeds from them again. I haven't planted the sunflowers yet since the weather is not warm enough, but will test them indoors with the rest of my sunflower seeds. Good job for this company and their follow-up and thanks for sending me replacement, I am super excited about the lettuce, it looks like it is going to be gorgeous! I usually buy from their end of season sale and still get good germination the next year. I love their pink and orange gomphrenas and the Chantilly snapdragons which I don't see elsewhere. I love the selection offered, particularly the packs that contain multiple varieties of an individual vegetable. Many of those packets contain color coded seeds so you know which variety you are planting. I have had no problems with germination, but a good part of my success can be attributed to the excellent information provided on the lovely seed packets. Also I have done most of my buying on-line, not locally, where seeds sometimes are not kept in the best environment. The website is easy to navigate with photographs showing you what each plant & flower looks like. There are periodic sales & shipping is prompt. I highly recommend Renee's! |

They offer excellent and unique vegetable mixtures such as tri-color bush and pole beans and some hard to find varieties such as "Charlotte" swiss chard and 'Sea of Red' lettuce. The cut flower selection is also excellent and they are one of the only sources for "Chantilly" mixed snapdragons which is a breathtaking mixture. Renee's also has kept their prices down below $3/packet and offers good online photographs for all their varieties. Highly recommended. |

We know how to plant seeds and didn't have any trouble with any of our other seeds. I tried three different attempts to get them germinated. It is a new variety and I was really excited about growing them, especially harvesting them! Their rep, "Heidi", let us know that they are not in the business to give away free seeds. Wow! I am pretty sure we paid for the seeds that were duds. So, that would not be free seeds. Is it wrong to expect to get some plants out of their seeds? Please allow us to replace your seeds and offer you some additional packets to compensate you for your time and effort. Please contact me at sue@reneesgarden.com with your mailing address and let me know what seeds need to be replaced and any other variety would like to try and we'll get them to you asap. Renee just doesn't want to send more seeds to a customer without getting more information and giving them some help first to make sure they are successful in their next attempt. We take these issues very seriously, so I do refer customers to Beth, our horticultural advisor first, so she can gather information and provide any assistance if needed. Feedback from our customers allows us to maintain quality and insure good performance throughout the country. Thank you for giving me an opportunity to respond!" |

However, we started a number of Tomato, Pepper and Eggplants from Renee's Garden Seeds -- and bought about 30 plants from our local Agway. At first, the Agway plants (Bonnie's) were outdoing our own, started from seed plants, then, as all the wet (and related diseases set in) the only harvest we got was from our Renee's started from seed plants. We do not pretend to know why this happened -- but for 2010 we will start all our tomatoes, peppers and eggplants from Renee's seeds and grow our own plants. Also, we put a table in out garden -- thanks Renee for the idea. We now dine in and from our garden. |

The seeds arrived quickly and in most cases I plant half a packet and save the other half for the next year. Renee's Garden doesn't include commercial amounts of seed. It is more geared for the family garden. I did grow over 40 tomato plants from one seed packet, but that was too many for my family veggie garden and I had to give most away. This year I'll be sure to only grow half the packet. |
