The Worse is, I only got store credit which is not even cover the shipping let alone the increased price. The nursery wasted my two years but let me pay the price. I cannot trust this nursery anymore even if I gave up the store credit. The rain tree company website does not let me put up the review so I have to come here to give a review. I hope the gardeners use more reliable nurseries to order fruit trees. |

The bare roots didn't survive at all. Died within weeks. Wrote the company and all I got was complete arrogance, excuses and ZERO help. Never ordering from them again. |

Because they only offer credit instead of refunds, I ordered the same trees again, along with some other varieties I couldn't find elsewhere. Everything planted this year has leafed out and so far looks OK, but their packing methods are terrible. Out of many mail order nurseries I've used the past several years, they are the only one to pack bare-root trees without any material around the roots inside the plastic bag -- newspaper, sawdust, peat, anything. The roots were bone dry. For a shipment across the country, this is simply irresponsible. As others have mentioned, they also do not prune the trees before shipping -- they just cut them all at the height necessary to fit into the box regardless of where the buds are. I am actually surprised that the trees leafed out. If they treated them better, they'd probably be thriving. Will never order from them again. It's a shame because they carry many varieties unavailable elsewhere. |

| Negative | StationApples (1 review) | On Mar 25, 2020, StationApples wrote: Not only "no", but "H*&^ NO" Not again. I paid extra for 4-5 foot bare root apple trees. The industry standard is to measure from what is OUT of the ground to count against that measurement. All told I spent an extra $78 for taller trees. When they arrived, my TALLEST tree was only 41 inches and the shortest was only 30 inches from the dirt line to the butchered tops. |

All the other trees from other vendors that I ordered came in February. I canceled this order and was told I would get my money back that was 10 days ago- They even lied to me and said they could not give me a refund back to my credit card - I wish I had looked into this company better than I did because there are many complaints online. There are better companies out there that care about the customers - I will be filing a formal complaint for fraud if my money is not refunded as promised |

Some purchases include a Mount Royal semidwarf plum; a Conference and a Honeysweet pear; ( both considered self-fruitful); Belmac Belle De Boskoop; and Khahrmin heirloom apple; and a a Tehrannavee and a Vandalay sweet cherry. The cherries bear about every 2 nd yr; due to our zone 4 late frosts. (but their delicious when they do! ) Also ordered their Primus white; Crandall black: ( lg; sweeter black currents w/ anise scented yellow blooms that scent your whole yard.) Boskoop Giant black current; and Jonkeervan Tets red current. They've done very well for us; and make delicious jellies and juice. Also bought several grapevives and a Petite Negri fig; that all did very well; too. I find their shipping procedures and delivery schedule to be very satisfactory. I try try to order during the spring promotion ea.year; when they give a bonus plant ( your choice from a lg. list.) with purchase. Cant really think of any cons to mention. |

| Positive | PeterM_ABQ (2 reviews) | On Sep 24, 2016, PeterM_ABQ Albuquerque, NM wrote: I've ordered in excess of 30 plants from Raintree over the years. I've had consistently GOOD LUCK, I think I've only had 1 plant failure, which means > 95% success (meaning the plants lived for at least 1 year). I mostly order fruit trees: plums, cherries, pomegranates, persimmons. These have mostly done well--and what hasn't done well are things that arguably aren't suited to the climate. Trees have generally been larger than I expect, with the exception of Nikita's Gift persimmon, which was a bit on the small side. I did get credit for that one failed tree as well. Raintree's selection of plums is really outstanding, and they have many fruit varieties that can be found nowhere else. For persimmons--Raintree shipped them bareroot, and while mine survived, I don't think they enjoy that treatment--might be better to buy persimmons from a local source in pots. |

I usually order well ahead of time, but I have placed impromptu impulse orders as well, and everything has gone well and I have received nothing but good stock. I have never had any occasion to deal directly with customer service, because the orders have always been fine. I hope that they continue to expand their stock of fascinating varieties. |
| Negative | Eziekel (1 review) | On Apr 25, 2016, Eziekel Allyn, WA wrote: I ordered two flowering apricots, a Sunset maple, a Gold Locus, and a Santa Rosa plum. All arrived in a single box with the terminal buds sawed off. Small branches had been torn/ripped, not cut, from the Santa Rosa. All were sticks. I called to ask why the terminal buds had been removed from the shade trees and was told that they were always cut off so the trees would fit in their box. I was told to call back and talk with the horticulturist. I called back the next day and talked to an extremely hostile, rude, woman who offered to refund my purchase. I accepted the refund. However, we will not do business with Raintree again. |

I have changed this to a neutral review since they reached out to me to better the situation. |

They came in good condition for the most part, a couple of trees had big gashes on their trunk from being dug up I suppose. The trees at about 3ft tall not counting the roots, heavily pruned back, and all seem to be alive to the top. Price was average for my area and they had cultivars that I couldn't get elsewhere. Don't like that I had to wait so long to get my trees, they have a shipping chart to show when they ship to each state, supposedly it's to help with the cost of shipping but I still don't like planting this late in my area since its going to get very hot soon. I'll update if the trees have any problems with the trunks. |

Raintree has a great online selection and great apple varieties you cant find at the big box stores. I ordered 2 apple trees, 1 Akane and 1 Beni Shogun. The Akane was nice and large about 6.5 ft tall but the Shogun was a tiny whip about 3ft. Strangely enough they were the same price. They were well packaged and the newspaper shredding were still moist upon arrival. I have them in the ground now so hopefully they do well this spring. |

The tree arrived in good shape, it's a reasonable size (4.5'), has several well placed little branches and a pretty good root system. It hasn't yet broken dormancy, and that's good in my estimation, because it's worrisome to see a tree that's not yet in the ground but is starting to try to develop leaves. Overall, I'm very pleased and fingers are crossed that the tree settles in well. |

The plants arrived in excellent condition and were large and well rooted. They have now leafed out and are sending out new shoots from the roots. I will order from them again and recommend them. |
