Ordered a pair of small trees from this vendor. Fair price, and (started as) good stock. But pots weren't secured in box, and bounced around in shipping. Both arrived with all leaders snapped off (almost a foot in one case), many leaves and twigs broken loose. Potting soil completely disrupted - one arrived near bare-root (with dirt all over the box), other "just" badly broken up with rootlets exposed to air. Having recovered trees from worse, we planted them anyway, with special care. Both soon lost all their leaves. One later put out a few leaves on some leaders. With luck, it'll only be a couple of years' lost growth. Other has a few small leaf-buds only on one side shoot, and probably can't be trained back into good form. Some blame transplant shock for what is really bad prep (root pruning, balling), or bad packing. But we've purchased hundreds of small trees, and never lost more than a leaf or two - usually none - when planting. Bought as a matching pair for a specific landscape feature, both had to be dug out again. Given time of the season, we had to buy something else (not what the recipient wanted) to fill those spots. Company hasn't responded.
